I use “Miracle Grow Moisture Control Potting Mix”. I’ve tried other soils, and find this one to be perfect for salvia. (Don't know the pH.)Ice House said:gibran2, what kind of soil do you use? Anyone out there know what the ideal soil ph is for salvia?
Flies and gnats, depending on the type, may cause damage to the plant’s leaves and/or roots. I use an insecticide spray that is safe for food crops when I get such infestations, and it’s usually very effective.smokerx said:Very nice I wish mine were growing like that. I will update soon.
I have a question. I have noticed that there are many very tiny flies on the plants and also some leaves got a bit brown on the edges. I am a bit worried. Any advice a how to get rid of those flies ? Or is this normal ? What should I do ?

Follow label directions to determine how much and how often to apply. My experience with gnats is that they live in/on the soil, so make sure you spray the soil surface.smokerx said:gibran2 said:Flies and gnats, depending on the type, may cause damage to the plant’s leaves and/or roots. I bought spray ( Organic Bug Free) today and already used it so will see if it works, hope it will. I have also put garlic cloves on the top of the soil as I was advised by my friend. So I hope this combination will solve the problem.
For how long period of time should I keep using the spray ?
Thank you for your advice.
