Publication SEEKING CONTRIBUTORS - Issue 3 Outline

Maybe the CBD2THC tek (and it's test results from Kykeon Analytics and the TLC test report of the DBD2THC tek result) can also be interesting to blend into an article? It's basically democratizing THC for all places on earth where CBD is legal.

Also, I might be able to arrange interviews with Portasophia.org (David Casimir is for example a very inspirational person in interviews) and/or Usona Institute for future editions.

By the way, for the participation of prominent researchers: in my experience, they do interviews or articles for free, in exchange of at least one example in print. For them, this is also a way of advertising their research and most people on there are really passionate. I had never been asked for money for interviews.
This was also our experience with the first two editions, most prominent people would love to get the word out about their work to gain more attention for their projects. It's basically a win-win for all involved, and giving them a hardcopy is not only fair, it's also a true way of saying we really care about their work.

p.s. I am loving the traction this project is getting, and the people from all over the place who are jumping in to help with their contributions and ideas! <3

It's a beautiful thing when the community comes together for something precious like that, isn't it? ❤️

Real talk, I will contact both Nolan Williams and Rober Carhart-Harris and ask them if they'd be willing to write up something for us. Do any of you have any suggestions on what we could ask them about? They're both pioneers in the psychological side of psychedelic use, especially mental health, and we all know this is a topic as important as ever. I'm open to suggestions.

Having the right preparations for interviews is key to ending up with a great article IMHO.

This means collecting all relevant questions beforehand plus some more, doing the deep background research into their work so you really understand what they are doing, their motives and their goals. Then as an extra you might get yourself acquainted to some of the more technical parts of their work so you can do a more in depth interview, and lastly I would never shy away from politely asking to explain something that I do not fully understand yet.

@donfoolio and his team might be able to share some more of their questions and interview tactics/experiences as well?

If the interview isn't all too long, I like written ones. This way, both the interviewer and the researcher can think about their responses beforehand.

I used to write down a few interesting questions and than get a response by email. Eventually I would reask deeper depending on what has been said and arrange all in the end to a fluent article.

Of course, deep knowledge of the work of the researcher is key for interesting questions. Especially Carhat Harris has been interviewed so many times. You could watch some of them to get further inspiration on interesting or not so interesting questions.

I would love to know more about his personal view of Amanda Fielding. She financed his research and coauthored his articles, but it is quite clear that he is not really close to this eccentric lady. This could be a good starting point for questions about the difficulties of fundraising in psychedelic research and so on. And corporate influences in the psychedelic renaissance.
Also his background as a Freudian could be something interesting to go in deeper.

I stop here..:

Maybe there should be separated threads for every article / interview to get things not too messed up.

It will certainly involve a lot of research and work to even lay the ground work to ask them to contribute, but I'd be willing to do it. That's of course tied with the approximate deadline we're thinking of for Issue Three. If time pushes us, we can postpone this for Issue Four and ride on the back of the inevitable success of its predecessor. :p

Keep in mind that a text of several thousand words is written fast. Good research is a base but you don't need to know every aspect of his work nor his size of shoes.

That said, sometimes knowing interesting details helps to get the discussion in a direction.

There is a difference between an article in a magazine or a four hour podcast. So don't be too shy to wait until you read ALL of his research, especially if you make it via email.
You can lecture on the side. And ask the questions that for yourself want to be answered, what you find interesting.

If I had to wait until I read all of those two people's research, you'd never see the final result haha these people are productive, unlike myself

Really nice project. I wish I could contribute in any way. Before I made a magazine about psychedelics, art and therapy with some friends but we never brought it to print.
But over hundred pages of interviews, articles and so on were made and are ready, only the editing was never made.
Inside there is stuff like interviews with Jim Dekorne from the entheogen review, Lukas brown, fredericke meckel Fischer, and articles about changa, jurema sagrada, psychedelic psychogeography, tlc and many more.

But would also love to write something new.

I am more versatile in gardening and the spiritual side of entheogenes, like the several syncretic pathways in South America, Voodoo or European witchcraft and the renaissance.

Could write up something and know many people who are more knowledgeable than I am.

Anyway, I dreamt lately to get more involved in journalism, and this could be a good starting point.
Holy cow! You're sitting on an unpublished Jim deKorne interview? Surely that's like gold dust?! In fact, the whole thing seems pretty awesome - how about serialising excerpts, if you can get permission from your co-authors? Was it published in e-format in any way?

(And I see that you've already given more info about your project, hopefully my questions aren't duplicating anything.)

Yeah, I was really happy to make this interview with the very person that got me interested in plant psychedelics in the first place.
DeKorne said also that the interview was giving him a new the taste to write something. Haven't heard of him since.

I can publish it here on the Nexus, as well as other articles of interest.

The zine was never published, we had a discussion that we were motivated to take this work up again - everything ended at the COVID period and things have taken their turn.

If I could safely do backflips right now, I would, so please imagine me doing so. Jim DeKorne's book, Psychedelic Shamanism, was among the first that really turned me on to the idea of ayahuasca being achievable outside of an Amazon visit. And I can see my copy from my desk :)

I made a little brainstorming this afternoon. I thought on some articles that I could write or already have written:
A lot of ideas here! I'm particularly interested in the legal status around ayahuasca and the 'jurema as a plant teacher', but that's just me. I think everything you listed would make for a great article, so I'd suggest whatever you feel most passionate about and think would translate into a magazine best. I completely agree with you on non-westerner content. As a westerner myself, I don't want to write on something I don't have intimate knowledge about, so I was hoping somebody would suggest ideas in that direction. I think everything you listed would make for some fascinating pieces.

I see your point with the Gallimore and Hancock stuff. I agree, the internet is sort of oversaturated with those people, but I think it'd be nice to try and have one 'spotlight' feature per issue to draw people's attention to something they know, and by extension introduce them to these other underdocumented ideas. I've seen some other very interesting ideas for interviews that I believe could accomplish that goal of providing some novel conversations. Again though, Gallimore is working on a new book which he hasn't discussed much, so I think now is a better time than any to ask about some original content aside from the echo chamber of how he made DMTx and Reality Switch Technologies. Your suggestion of a DMTx volunteer is great though, I'd love to see that happen!

Consider it done. 👍

Are we starting Sub forums for vol 3? Might be beneficial to get something up and running. So information can be gathered/shared and get some feedback going on said articles?🤣

Hope i didn't jump the gun on this project too much🤣😅, been brainstorming angles to get the best information for an article for the magazine.

I really don't want to regurgitate facts from past stories and random sources gathered off the internet as they have already been seen by everyone and would lead to a poor article for the revival of The Nexian 🤬 and would bring absolute zero value to the table.

So trying to find a good angle to persu this article; I figure I need to get to the source to get some actual fresh input for an article for the Nexian.

So this weekend I reached out to 4 of the largest Dispensaries here in Canada. Figured I best send some messages/Emails and try and get the wheels rolling...

Was kinda blown away and shocked when I woke up this morning and checked my emails and have already received 2 replys for my inquiries about interviewing and questioning the owners of said Dispensaries.

Dana Larsen who owns and runs
1)Medical Mushroom dispensary (3 locations)
2)Coca Leaf Cafe
3)Medical Marijuana Dispensary
4)Get Drugs Tested Center
5)Author of Pot Head Books
6)Co Founder of the BC Marijuana Party party
7)One of The largest Canadian Activists for Canadian Drug Reform and a legend here in Canada.

Hes agreeded to an interview to answer questions for an article for The Nexian Magazine and seems very responsive as he replyed back in under 24 hours...🫠

I also heard back from one of the largest psilocybin chains in Canada, which opened 15 stores in 2023, and who's said to plan to double that this year (News Sourced)..they seemed open to an interview to answer questions for an article in The Nexian Magazine. He wants to talk to partners and legal team and would like to view and screen questions b4 answering for the magazine .

Ive reached out to two other large brick and mortor psilocybin Dispensaries and havent hesrd back from them yet;(it is the weekend) but they might be open like the other 2 Dispensaries . For the simple fact there is alot of traction here in Canada for drug reform.

I know Dana gets interviewed alot as hes a very prominent figure in the Drug Activism scene here in Canada.

Im not much of a Journalist or writer to be completely frank and honest. And im caught left footed with how quickly these places responded, and how openly they seemed about being apart of an article... as I honestly didn't expect a response or at least so positively and quickly.

I definitely should have got my ducks in a row b4 reaching out them though..

I definitely could use some brainstorming and collaboration from any interested parties as to where I should go with this interview questionnaire; ideas or direction for the questions to ask both Interested Dispensaries, and ideas of the scope of this article.

One could really write a whole article or book on Dana, and i seem all over the place trying to nail down questions for him.
My brain is all iver the place wanting to question everything about this quy.
