Seperating dmt fumerate from jungle spice fumerate

A friend of mine has some crystals he acquired from a FASA salted toulene jungle spice pulls. Most of the crystals are white lookin like dmt fumerate but he does have some reddish crystals he would like to seperate from the white ones...he wants the red. He knows if freebased he could use bestine to pull out the dmt and leave the red however as salts im sure this wouldnt work. Anyone have any idea? If he has to freebase them whats the best way anyway? He has no use for salted spice his cat plans on smokin it.

It would; One could first freebase all of it by mixing the fumarates with calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate and some water to make a paste, let dry completely then pull with acetone and evaporate acetone to get the freebases. (One could even try this mixture out of curiosity).

Then wash the freebases with warm naphtha to get the white spice out, leaving the jungle spice (and any N-oxide) behind.

SWIM seconds Infundiblum but would like to add that it's a good idea to:
-obtain a small container with a lid that will be resistant to warm naphtha vapors
-fill the container with naphtha
-poor that and only that amount in your heating vessel with the freebased extract
-stir the contents well as it heats
-once it reaches the desired heat, transfer the naphtha back to the original container
-freeze precip the contents (usually occurs in a matter of hours)
-decant the naphtha into the heating vessel, leaving the freeze-preciped product in the container.
-repeat all steps until the desired amount is obtained.

Usually when SWIY is about ready to collect and dry the product, SWIY could just add the hot naphtha to the container to dissolve the freeze-preciped product. Then leave the container away from heat, light, or disturbance overnight at room temperature. SWIY'll be able to collect a more solid product this way.

Continue to use the same naphtha and add more as needed since some will evaporate.

Arite if acetone would work with mixing the fumerate with calcium hydroxide to pull the dmt freebase and jungle spice freebase. Would acetone also work in a STB extraction? Ive never heard of this so let me kno. SWIM would rather do a small aqueous extract with lye or ammonia than to try an do the paste or will not acetone work in an aqueous solution?

Couldnt swim just dissolve these crystals in water and freebase them with ammonia and crash out and filter out the freebase? then proceed to seperate with naptha or bestine?

Not much use for acetone in an STB, since it is highly miscible in water. Acetone can separate out as an upper layer in aqueous solution of very high ionic strength (e.g lots of NaOH or NaCl, or Na2CO3 or whatever) but this separation is never complete.

So if acetone is used in a high concentrated STB it will form a separate layer, but this layer will also have loads of water in it and NaOH and loads of other crap, this is a definite no-no!

It would work but it is a pain in the arse. IF I fully believe what a random gypsy fortune teller once told me, it is not really worth it and time consuming. The calcium hydroxide paste works like a charm was her words.
