shaggy's jungle + q21q21 teks to get jimjam

Migrated topic.
Hey fellow hyperspace explorers, I'm new to the nexus, but SWIM has been exploring the extraction teks and various threads in depth over the last few weeks, and he even tried an extraction using q21q21's tek 1 in an attempt to get jimjam from 100g MHRB. SWIM's first extraction didn't go as well as planned, and he ended up with about .6g of brownish goo, which isn't very psychoactive when smoked. SWIM believes that the main problem in the process was the salting stage, so he wanted to try straight xylene evaporation, followed by an heat bath for a test tube with the product from the xylene evaporation combined with acetone in order to pull the alkaloids into the acetone, then do a heated acetone evap, resulting in a solid final product.

In his second attempt at extraction of jimjam, he was planning on combining aspects of shaggy's tek & q21q21's tek for what he thinks could be a better overall process:
1) pulverizing 50g MHRB
2) mixing some amount of 5% white distilled vinegar with some amount of tap water in a crock pot for 6-8 hours to acidify
**** 1st question, what would be a good amount of vinegar & water to mix in here?
3) in a glass jug, place a solution of calcium hydroxide (mrs. wages pickling lime) & water. pour all the "soup" from the crock pot (bark, vinegar, water & all) into the jug to basify.
**** 2nd question, based on the volume of the "soup" (50g MHRB, xML vinegar, yML water), how much lime should SWIM put in the jug? should more water be added to this lime before dumping in the soup to make it a liquid?
4) after letting that jug sit for 3-4 hours (?), add a certain amount of xylene to the top of the jug, gently shake around the jug, allowing the alkaloids to shift from the soup into the NPS/xylene.
**** 3rd question, how much xylene should SWIM use for this first pull?
5) siphon off the top xylene layer, which contains the dmt alkaloids, place this pull in a clean pyrex baking dish
6) repeat these xylene pulls until the color of the xylene is pretty clear (3-4 pulls?)
**** 4th question, since SWIM will be placing the xylene pulls into a dish for evap, it will be impossible to reuse the same saturated xylene batch for successive pulls. for subsequent pulls, should SWIM use a different amount of xylene? he feels like a lower overall volume of xylene would make evaporation easier, so the minimum total amount is ideal, but he wants to make sure to use enough to pull most of the alkaloids.

7) now SWIM has a pyrex baking dish with alkaloid-saturated xylene. this is the part where SWIM feels he made an error last time.
**** 5th question: could SWIM freeze precipitate the xylene at this point? if so, that'd be great. if not, would he have to set this pan outside and wait for the evaporation to occur?

8 ) SWIM will end up with some substance after most of the xylene has been removed from the dmt alkaloids, but he's pretty sure that some of the xylene will still be in there, and wants to make sure to get all that nasty-nast out. at this point, shaggy recommends filling a test tube halfway with your extract, then filling the rest of the test tube with acetone (which, in SWIM's understanding evaporates much faster & more completely than xylene?), placing a holed rubber stopper on the tube, holding the test tube in a heat bath of boiling water until the acetone begins to bubble, shaking the test tube, then siphoning off the top layer of acetone into a pyrex dish. while this pyrex dish is being heated to about 200`F, repeat this method of acetone washing until all of the extract has been dissolved into the acetone, continuously siphoning off the acetone layers from the test tube into the pyrex dish. when the extract in the pyrex dish hardens, the acetone has been evaporated, and your full spectrum product - jimjam/jungle dmt - remains.

does this process seem like it will work, resulting in a clean, full-spectrum final product? SWIM felt like the method outlined in Q21Q21's tek 1 where vinegar and hot water are used to pull the alkaloids from the xylene is what led to the less than satisfactory final product in his first extraction attempt.

SWIM is hoping to get started on his 2nd extraction soon, so any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated! thank you fellow journeyers.
lots of love.

Welcome to the Nexus man. I like your handle..

Not to shoot you down or anything, but in order to use pickling lime, you've got to stick to a dry tek, like q21q21's or amor fati's.

If you boil your MHRB in vinegar and water, you'll have to use lye instead.

If you'd still want to consider using the lime with the acid boil, you'd have to reduce it down quite a bit so that when you add the the lime, it's more of a paste than a soup.

I don't have a lot of experience with dry teks, so hopefully someone else can chime in here.

And answers for your questions-

1) I like to use a good bit of water with a splash of vinegar, it doesn't take much, so like 50-75ml for each liter of water.

2) For 50g of root bark, I'd probably use 2 liters of water, 150ml of vinegar and simmer that until it reaches about 400ml (or less) of liquid. Instead of adding it to a jar, I'd put it in a bowl and slowly add the lime until it reaches a pasty consistancy as explained in q21's tek.

3) If you're planning on evaporating the xylene, I'd say use 100-150ml of xylene per pull. You could use more, but I wouldn't use any less than that.

4) You could use less per pull but I'd evap the later pulls separately to see exactly how much you're still getting.

5) Unfortunately you cannot freeze precip xylene. That would rock though. When evapping xylene, I put it in front of a window with a fan blowing the fumes outside. You can put some panty hose over the evap dish to keep any dust or hair from getting in.

6) Concerning getting rid of the excess xylene, instead of using acetone, I recommend using IPA, 99% if you can find it. Just evap it in the same baking dish you used to evap the xylene. I would recommend not using heat just incase it gets too hot and vaporizes your spice. Better safe than sorry.

I'm really not sure if this method you outlined would work or not. If you reduce the mimosa tea down enough, it seems like the lime might work.

Since it's just 50g of bark, I guess it's worth a shot. Let us know how it goes and good luck! :D
