Should I recrystallize?

Migrated topic.

First run. Ended up with 1.3g of spice from 100 grams of mimosa. Spice is very white with just a hint of yellow.

I'm debating on if I should recrystallize or not. I have heptane already. In some way it would be nice to have completely pure spice. On the other side of the coin I worry about overall yield loss and if it's really worth doing since what I have looks (and smells) so great. Thoughts?

Next, if I do decide to RX:

I've read that the best way to go about it is fridge for 12 hours, then freezer for 12/18. Been following Cys' Salt Tek and it just says fridge for an hour. Any other general recrystallization tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

A recrystallization is easy to do and fairly quick. If your spice has some plant fats in it, it will protect it from the heat a bit, and be easier to vape efficiently. Beautiful clear shards look awesome, but it all gets melted anyway. As long as it's not contaminated or way too gooey to handle its alright in my book. Enhancing leaf is a good way to deal with goo, though. I usually do my pulls a bit hot, and just re-x to get some fats out. Saves a bit of time pulling. The purer it is, the easier it is to accurately weigh doses.
By the way, you will never have "completely pure" spice. If it is already crystalline, loss will be very minimal.
Just my .02

I have very small amounts of plant fats/lipids. Probably making up less than 1% of the overall content. I actually removed about 80mg total manually with a pair of tweezers and then rolled those until about 95% of the crystals came off and discarded the darkish sticky chucks. Only a very small amount left in there (again, about 1%) and is mixed well with the rest of the white spice.

Hmmmm... Might try Rxing just a small amount and see how that goes..

I guess my big concern is losing too much of what I have.

Is the general consensus for Rxing room temp for an hour -> fridge for 12 - > freezer for 24?

Always re-x your spice. Ever notice the lye sticking to the top of your extraction vessel? I do. Youre prob going to lose 100-300mg of spice but who cares. You can always extract more. Be safe not cheap.

I want to preface this by saying that I'm quite new to extraction. I had a very successful A/B ACRB extraction, following all the steps. I re-crystallized some, but not all of the product.

Anyway, I was under the impression that lye cannot make it into the final product as long as you're very careful not to suck up any of the basic soup when separating out the naphtha.

Is that not right?

Thanks

Is it really that difficult? People are going to tell you different things on the nexus. personally i feel like the re-x is the most important step. You can tell a lot about a person by their DMT, where they going, where they been 😁 ...

That is correct, but a re-x never hurts. Even the most careful people may accidentally suck up a tiny amount of basic soup so I usually do at least one re-x.

Thanks for the pointers, I appreciate it.

I suppose I avoided re-xing my entire batch for two reasons:

1) loss of yield (which is arguably negligible)
2) I've heard many nexians say they prefer the complete "goo" or "waxy" product.

In addition to this, I have tried both the re-xed and non re-xed product, and both seem quite potent.

Thanks again
