Smoking in groups

i seem to be noticing a pattern here it seems as though most of the users in this forum smoke alone

i've noticed that when taking dmt with close friends the experience is greatly improved
having someone with you that is experiencing the same thing for the same reasons seems to pull more from the experience than what one would get solo

for instance when we smoke we usually all try to smoke at the same time so we all ride the same wave and usualy all return at about the same time then we can take a few minutes to recover and talking about our experience aloways makes for nice conversation while we load another one

if someone has an ego death its aloways nice to see a friendly face when you come back - someone who knows exactly where you just came from (possibly just came from aswell) (this seems to be especially important to the females)

other times we'll all just laugh and talk about stupid things durring the whole experience

we dont smoke spice all the time maby a few times a year but each time is very moving
i doubt that im the only one here who commonly smokes with groups of people but i do feel as though not many people do from what i have read around the forums - i would like to know who else smokes in groups around nexus or why some people tend to shy away from this or am i just an oddball ?


i feel as though a note of clarification is needed here --
when i say close friends im talking about a group of people that grew up together for our entire lives people who have cried on my shoulder and i have cried on theirs people who i would be willing to pay their morgage next month and who have paid mine in the past a group of friends so close that we are no longer friends but family -
and when i say groups im speaking of me and 3-4 other people

For me, my friends just aren't ready for it yet. I'm only 21 and all of my close friends but 2 say they are not prepared. Another 2 have tried it and are not willing to try it any time soon.. I also like being alone to be honest. I'm very comfortable with myself. I haven't blasted off with any of my friends yet though so we will see if that intensifies the experience.

I also felt very strongly the way you did about acid when I was taking a lot of it, that by doing it with close friends we got more out of the experience. What's the saying about the sum is greater than all of it's separate parts combined? I know there is a more eloquent way to put it.

I have only blasted off twice, I am 23 if it matters. Haven't blasted off in at least a year.

The two times that I did blaze up the Deems, I was with close friends, psycho-nautical artists if you will, and the time that I had a breakthrough, it was reassuring to have a close friend near by to talk about each trip in between smoking.

As the Grouch would say "Synergy's a remedy, each one teach one, and don't do it timidly."

Since we're saying ages, I'm 22.
I only know 1 person that is willing to try it with me, and we haven't had the chance yet because we're both so busy.
I got one person to try it with me but they got scared and said it was too intense to do again.

That seems to be most peoples reactions, either that or "I've never had a reason to do it."
I've never had a reason to paint but I love that too. :roll:

I only said age because I'm sure when some people start out on their spice journeys that it probably takes a while for them to find others to join them, especially those that they feel comfortable with.

Some people have told me I might want to consider changing my avatar if I don't want to give some other people the wrong impression but I think those other people should just listen to his music, and realize how silly they are. IT really depends on the type of person who's smoking. Personally I would never(never say never though) smoke with more than two friends present. Alone it's best.

I did smoke on div. occasions with friends/family. Usually i (40y) smoke alone but when my wife likes to join me, i will prepare the GVG and fill it with the vapour, so she has only to inhale. I must say that she is really disgusted about the smell and can't smoke for herself.
So we take turns, i will light and smoke and then we share the vapour.
On occasions i smoked with a friend, then we used to blast off one after the other and return more or less at the same time.
I am only willing to share the experience with really close and long-term friends with whom i had at least one other psychedelic experience before.

Sure, I smoalked a little Changa with one of my best buddies last night. I love to share the Spice with my good friends - obviously some are more adventurous than others, some are still coming round to the idea, most I am sure will come to the conclusion that it is not for them, where as others (like my friend) are much more fearless and will dive right in. In fact he now likes it so much he has asked me to show him the ropes with extraction etc. You should have seen the ecstasy on his face when he returned! I LOVE that!

So yeah, I predominantly smoalk alone, and can deal with my mind/ego being blasted to bits while all alone, but it is nice to see my friends enjoying one of the finer things in life as well. After all you share good food, good drinks, good company, good times and all the rest, so why not share such a wonderful molecule?

Oh and I'm 25 if that makes any difference...

I think the fact that you don't see a lot of group smoking experiences here on the nexus kinda makes sense if you think about it. I personally sought out this forum and began posting on because I don't have anyone to smoke with or share the experience with, and I felt a desperate need to share it with someone - even if it's with a bunch of (awesome) like minded strangers on an internet forum. I'm 30 btw, I still have a few friends interested in psychedelics and the like, but the rest have conformed to society and are sadly missing out.

I can't imagine smoking with any of my friends. I only know like two other people that are mildly interested in psychedelics but for me there is genereally a barrier there - dmt just opens up too much of me, to make me want to share it with the people I know. Similar to what Oneiros said, I'm here (among other reasons) because I have no RL people to share this kind of stuff with. I mean it sounds awesome that you have friends like you say you do, Caravel, but not everyone does. I for one don't and will probably never have anything like that, since I'm already grown up and it would be hard to grow up again...
I'm 27, I've been looking for people to share psychedelics with for 11 years but I'm still alone. I'm used to tripping alone. It has it's good sides too. But I wouldn't say no to a group sitting if I knew the people were ok.

I've facilitated like 5-6 people before, but there are things I always have to consider. First of all, I'm the only one who I trust to get the DMT out of its storage container and into the GVG (so I'm the only one who can reload) and I'm also the only one who gets to use the lighter anymore (except sometimes...and I mean maybe sometimes I'll let my brother) because I'm tired of people either not doing it right and thus wasting my DMT or not doing it right and fucking up the ceramic filter or both, so now I'm the only one to use the lighter. As a consequence of these things, I have to make sure I have everyone else go first, and then once everyone's off (or just coming down), I can go, but this can be sort of inconvenient with people going up and coming down at different times.

Something else to consider is that I've discovered that some people apparently really don't like to be looked at when they're tripping. To me I don't care. You could have people in line paying to see me and I probably wouldn't notice or care, but some people can get touchy, so this needs to be taken into account too which can include trying to quell the person's paranoia. Small groups are better and solo is most convenient where decisions about the setting can be easily made, and there's no one else to worry about. I've had someone freak out pretty much just after I've exhaled, so I was completely tripping out with holographic machinery floating through the room as I tried to comfort my friend's girlfriend. Was sort of hard to talk, but I wasn't about to hang her out to dry.

I have only ever smoked with my best friends, as i feel like my anxiety is dramatically reduced when around them. When by myself i almost feel like if everything went to shit, being on my own would only make it worse. I have had some hairy experiences, but knowing my best buds are around me gives me a sense of security. My girlfriend used to be the complete opposite. As Global briefly expressed about certain people, she hates to be looked at and a lot of the time she felt like people may be judging her and how she looks when under (she throws up sometimes too). However, the other night when on her own she grabbed some changa i made her and fell into a void of doom where witch type entities were pointing and laughing at her. She has only had good experiences with me and with a few others, so i think her view has slightly changed on the matter.

As Global also mentioned, a lot of my friends do not know how to smoke it properly and need my assistance when lighting it. That's why changa is so much better, because it takes so much less effort to light it correctly. Once i didn't go last and my friend was having trouble smoking it effectively. I had to try light it for her why my world was collapsing in on me... twuz not fun.

I will no doubt venture into hyperspace solo at some point, but for now i just love the sessions i have with my buddies and the love we feel for each other when we all come to and how much closer we become from going through something not many humans experience.

sharing spice is amazing..just being able to open someone else up to that place and seeing their face afterwords and hearing them rave fills me with immense joy. 90% of the time i smoke it alone but i've smoked dmt with a lot of different kinds of people and had some great experiences, and some not so great ones-you just have to be very cognizant of the set/setting and the overall feel of the thing beforehand..you can just tell when you encounter a situation or person you shouldn't share it with because it just doesn't vibe right. i find it best to follow my intuition here and only do it with those who i absolutely trust

for example i had some old friends show up last weekend and it was not a group of people i usually feel i should share dmt with..only one of them had even tried it before, but for some reason they were interested and it all just fell into place and seemed right. we ended up smoking continuous low doses with marijuana while playing all sorts of strange instruments, and it was a very deep and beautiful bonding experience filled with enormous amounts of love and laughter

Theres a few reasons which are obstacles for me to share the spice with other people but as DK said, having others sround who understand the experience can ease the anxiety a little.But tripping alone, deeply, does have its plusses but is probably best undertaken by those familiar with solo missions particularly with the other classic pschys.

One thing about having to trip unaccompanied- it makes you examine your mindset very closely and realistically before doing, or not doing, the deed.Perhaps more than when in a group.

I'd fail to see the interest in doing in a group, as:
1. my eyes must stay closed until i'm well grounded again.
2. in the calm of solitude i get to anlyse the journey in a contemplative way, a multitude of egos all clamouring for air time would spoil it for me.
3. I bet sometimes I look like a drooling idiot, the last time I came back to myself with my jaws wide open. ( don't want laughter in the background).
4 I'm a loner at heart anyway!

Had a discussion about DMT with my uncle today and he seems genuinely interested. He's done LSD and shrooms in the past, and I've smoked cannabis and done phenylethylamines with him before, so I think he'd enjoy it. He's not heard much about it before I brought it up, so I hope I explained it to him well enough that he doesn't freak out about it. Any suggestions to make his first try as good as possible tomorrow? Like someone said earlier, some people don't like the idea of someone watching them while they do it, should I step outside for 10-15 minutes while he journeys? I'd like to be there when he gets back though. Guess I could just ask him huh? I'm quite excited to see how it turns out - I love sharing this kind of experience with people, it feels like the best type of gift to give - beats a tie any day of the week.

i definitely wouldn't leave the room while he's trying it for his first time..just sit next to him so that you're both facing the same direction and not staring at each other. Another reason to be there is because humans tend to suck at smoking dmt at first, so you should be there to guide him through it for at least the first time. i would also encourage him to research a lot and meditate beforehand, of course.

I would definitely recommend you stay with him. It'll most certainly be reassuring. The people who didn't like being watched usually were being rather specific in regards to others in the room that they weren't entirely comfortable with. Anyone who has done it with me 1 on 1 usually not only prefer that I'm in the room with them almost always prefer I'm there with them as opposed to the idea of going it alone (not to mention I never hand any out anyway).
