assuming it actually would work smoking rue for ingesting dmt, you'd probably have to smoke it every 3-5 minutes for the whole comeup and then it would probably quickly fade leaving you with a short trip. In that case it would likely be wiser just to smoke changa.

For pharmahuasca you have to ingest 2-3g (depending on the strain) of syrian rue in brew or powdered in gel-caps for full maoi inhibition. And no 5g or 7g will not make the trip better, but worse.

Honestly with a question like that it seems wise that you read up some more before asking questions like that. Namely the pharmahuasca sub-forum

i had read here that it was possible...thus the question,as it seemed a little strange,,,my understanding is that you only smoke freebases and in nature it's in it's salt form

SWIM has never actually smoked the seeds though smoking extracted freebase harmalas gave an unexpected extremely strong experience with long tracers and intricate CEVs. It only lasted 5-7 minutes coming to baseline after about 30 minutes.


The extraction is simple but can be annoying sometimes

Make sure to have a cloth, several cotton balls, a large funnel and 3-4 Large containers and 3-4 small containers. Some sodium carbonate, rock salt and some vinegar.

If the seeds are directly boiled then the brew will be much thicker and MUCH MUCH MUCH more annoying to filter. To prevent this SWIM's method is to simply steep the seeds in near-boiling water without adding any more heat and then let the seeds settle before decanting off the water from above the seeds.

This is then filtered through a cloth then a cotton ball using a large funnel.

Repeat this with until the total water is 20ml per gram of seeds (1000ml per 50g) to get about 70-80% of the alkaloids which is a lot. It will likely take another 20ml per gram to get the other 20-30% which is somewhat annoying to reduce.

This can be used as is as a brew using a rough calculation of the dose. IE: If 50g of seeds were used then drinking 6% of the brew is 3g worth.

Or the harmalas can be extracted using a manske, separating the solids, redissolving them and then freebasing/precipitating by adding sodium carbonate. You can even separate the harmine and harmaline doing this

But those are well documented around the forum and SWIM does that exactly the same as the write-ups unlike the initial steps.


It's a enjoyable extraction because it's all food-safe, SWIM is nearing the end of one he started last night and it's looking good!

Don't smoke rue. If you are that eager to smoke it, simply buy some rue extract, or check out the suppliers section to see who sells near pure harmala alkaloids. It's pretty easy to extract too. Seeds are cheap. for a better experience though you should use Caapi....or at least add THH to your alkaloids.

Smoked extract works very well.

However if you are going for ORAL DMT INGESTION I would compeletely forget smoking anything (except some dmt at your peak if you dare). You need the MAOI's in your gut to allow passage of the spice to your brain before being destroyed by the MAO's. Smoking harmala's won't affect the MAOs in your stomach, you'll need to EAT THE MAOI's in order for oral dmt to be effective.

I would suggest extracting rue, eating the seeds is possibly the worst way to ingest them. There are a couple of mildly toxic alkaloids that aren't human friendly.
