Long time reader, first time poster. Just wanted to put the experiences of SWIM with snorting dmt-fumarate out there is cyberspace considering so many people discourage people from trying this method due to its "burn" or "wastefulness".
SWIM has been brewing dmt freebase for about 3-4 years now and has only smoked the FB (around 75 times to date since the first batch). Recently a friend of SWIM decided to snort freebase and was wholly overpowered by the burn (duh! a base with the pH of around 9 can't be too good for the mucus membranes). This prompted SWIM to research other methods of use which led to FASA conversion of dmt to a fumarate salt. SWIM tested this out and now believes snorting dmt-fumarate is far better of an experience than smoking it, and has given him the gumption to go ahead with trying a oral pharmahuasca trip soon. SWIM snorts about 100-150mg of dmt-fumarate at a time (200 if he is feeling ballsy), on a 100-150mg dose you are getting 75-110mg of dmt with a trip duration of 1 hour. This means DMT-fumarate is not a waste of DMT. Typically a smoked, 35mg dose last swim around 15-20min, times this by three and you get the dose size and duration of snorted dmt without having to redose.
Timeline of SWIM's experience:
T(0.0) - Snorted 100-150mg
T(1min) - Mild to moderate burn
T(2-3 min) - Mucus released in sinus
T(3-4 min) - Burns subsides as mucus fills sinus and dissolves the salts
T(4-10min) - Trying to hold the mucus in as long as possible
T(10-15min) - Can't hold the mucus in, must snort and swallow which is bitter and gives a sore throat feeling (drink something and it gets better) or blow your nose.
T(15-75+min) - Trip city
SWIM finds the snorted dmt-fumarate experience to be much more of a gradual come-up and come-down, much more mellow, and much easier integrate. He also finds the experience much more like a heavy shroom trip in intensity (rather than being indescribably intense). SWIM finds smoking it to be such an intense and fast experience that it takes him weeks, sometimes months, to process one experience and reach enough understanding to take another trip; however, with dmt-fumuarate SWIM feels that the ride downhill after the peak gives enough time to process the occurrences of the peak. After making the first batch of salt and doing some preliminary testing SWIM went on to use the salt as much as 3-4 times a day for more than a week. He said he had no sinus problems after this time and actually felt that his sinuses felt better than ever (for some reason his allergies to pollen in the air cause less of a reaction after extended use).
SWIM can't imagine smoking a base is better for your system than snorting a salt.
Fumaric acid esters does produce gastrointestinal side effects in about 60% of people (nausea, constipation, or diarrhea), luckily dmt-fumarate is not a ester, the fumarate part should only cause issues if there is a predisposed chemical sensitivity (in which case this is not the method for some). Fumaric acid is classified as a irritant (hence the sore throat and mild burn when snorted but SWIM feels DMT freebase is much more of an irritant to the respiratory system than the salt is to the sinuses).
Snorting DMT Fumarate is SWIM's preferred method of use due to there being no need for an MAOI, its portability, and ease of use. SWIM had also been reluctant to dose orally with an MAOI expecting the experience to be 3-4hours of a smoked trip intensity, if orally dosing is more like the trip intensity produced when snorting than it should be much easier to tolerate that long of a trip.
SWIM hopes this changes a few minds. Everyone's tolerance to powder in the nose differs and you may have too little tolerance to handle the mild irritation, much like some feel smoking FB is too irritating to the lungs. SWIM says the burn is not bad at all and he has snorted many things with a greater burn. Hell, the only reason coke doesn't burn is because it numbs quickly but you can feel the damage the next day, not so with dmt-fumarate!
