Soaking Blue Lotus in IPA

To the point: how long do you need to soak blue lotus in IPA to get the majority of the actives?

Super long way of asking same question:

Oh man.... I have been soaking 150ish grams of caapi leaf and vine in IPA for nearly a month now. I poured off the IPA a few days ago and covered the plant material in fresh alcohol just to make sure I get most of the actives. I plan on pressing every bit of IPA out of the plant material this weekend. The filtered IPA I've already collected looks awesome. It's green and red at the same time. I'm thinking about how sweet and friendly this next batch of changa is going to be.

I keep reading about this electric sheep blend and its blue lotus component. I procured some lotus and smoked it. The quality of the smoke is low, but mildly active (and very pleasantly so).

I've read that you can alcohol extract blue lotus so I threw some in a jar with 99 IPA a few days ago. What I'd read is that you can infuse wine with lotus in as little time as overnight but a week was better. This is 99 IPA, not wine... should be quicker right? How long should I let this soak?

I have patience but I feel that waiting a month (before even beginning the evap process) has already tested it.

Does anyone have any thoughts on getting the goods from blue lotus via IPA extraction?

Depending on what kind of container you got it in, I'd say stir or shake the crap out of it to speed things up.

There's only a few simple things that help speed up the extraction process:

- stir, shake &/or swirl
- mild heat....i.e., warm solution, but NOT HOT!
- finely powder herb before putting in alcohol

I do all three with a magnetic stirrer/hotplate and a Magic Bullet. I get what I want in 3 days. So.....that doesn't really help someone without a stirrer/hotplate.......

What I would do...is powder (or maybe not; powdering could present filtering problems later on) the blue lily and put it straight into the bottle of IPA. No new container or anything. Just powder, straight in and shake the crap out of it. Shake the crap out of it over 5-7 days. That should do it fine, I think.

Most importantly, don't worry too much. When it's good your intuition should kick in, saying, "Uhmm, yeahhhh. It's done fool."

today i took the lid off and filtered 50g of blue lotus (lily) that was soaking in 91% IPA for the past month, shaken when i could, sometimes for hours at a time. evapping takes soooo long. let me know how it goes for you.
