Soldering Iron !

Has anyones cat every used a soldering iron for smoking their spice?

I would imagine it would be used in a regular glass pipe. Perhaps in a sandwich of leaves?

What are your thoughts?

I'd imagine it'd work quite well if you have an adjustable temperature iron and I've thought of it before, practically it might be a bit difficult to make but should work. One way I suppose would be to imitate those cheap vaporisers and find a little metal 'dish' you can attach to the top of the iron, place your dmt inside it and carefully heat it up keeping your finger on the switch so it shouldn't burn too much .. or heat it up and put your dmt on a little hash skillet and press the end on, would have to be just the right temperature or it'd burn .. for reference soldering irons typically get up to 200+C while DMT freebase boils at about 60-80C

I wouldn't want to leave a soldering iron lying around potentially burning things including me while I slip away into Hyperspace.

I think its more for herbs though. My experience with soldering irons is that they wouldnt work. The cheap ones take a long time to heat up and then would possibly be hotter than you would want. The more precise ones can be pretty expensive also.

If freebase DMT boils at 80°C, then why not just put it in a small metal dish and float the dish on some very hot (but not boiling) water? Or just submerge a test tube containing freebase DMT in boiling water? You want to know why this won’t work?

Because freebase DMT doesn’t boil at 80°C. Test it yourself – it’s easy enough to do.

Yup, anyone who has converted acetates to freebase can attest to this...You can hard boil the water in the double boiler and you won't lose yield, meaning the dmt isn't boiling off at that temp.

Personally, I would not use a soldering iron for vaping dmt, there's too much risk of burning myself or torching my house post blast-off.

I would suggest trying a hakko and removing the outside parts so it's just the ceramic heating element if you're seriously determined to go this route. I know people who use this to vape their weed and it works like a charm. Personally, I wouldn't use this rig for spice, as any of them will tell you in a sec that you have to be insanely careful with the exposed heating element if you want to avoid giving yourself serious burns and avoid burning your house down. They have all devised various improvised stands so they can put their rigs down. I don't see putting it down safely being an option if you're using it for dmt and would therefore advise against using it for this purpose.

Smoking DMT is really easy and theres no reason to get all high tech and fancy
For years Ive just been smoking it in regular pipes on top of different herbs and its always done the trick

I think a hair straightener sounds a lot more promising. Maybe get some gooey n-oxide and spread it among the hair straightener, turn it on, adjust to perfect temp, close and inhale vapors with makeshift funnel like heroin
A 70 dollar straightener can go over 450
