Taking a stroll through a local Bunnings the other day, SWIM could really only find Shellite and Xylene as solvents for extraction.
Shellite leaving an oily residue and Xylene stinking like a major chemical spill, are there any other solvents that could be suggested to SWIM?

Toluene I believe is highly carcinogenic.

D-Limonene sounds ideal for its smell, safety, and pulling ability however I'm pretty sure it's not an available product in Australia.

Are there any other suggestions of what products that can be used for extracting Obtusifolia?

This is a 2nd go. I didnt not use anything to put a drop on the glass - in case it was contaminates on the device.

Photo numbering:
201 - drop placed in the middle. edge is hard to see.
202 - easier to see the drop here. edge just beginning to evaporate.
203 - further evaporation. there is a fainter film here.
204 - drop still evaporating.
205 & 206 - drop evaporated. faint film.

Is this acceptable or not?

Diggers shellite never passes evap tests. It will be especially apparent just how much gunk it leaves behind when you do a proper freeze precip. You can still use it for initial freebase extraction to get the bulk of the dmt from your starting material but you must be able to perform a re-x with a clean solvent on this later. This is where one would switch to clean heptane as you only need a small volume for this step.
Heptane is a bit harder to obtain. I see some Labs sell it.

I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to ordering any chemicals from the web, it's probably fine to do so but I'm not one to want my name linked to anything I buy, that's just me though. Finding a trusted friend to order it who otherwise does not part take in this kind of activity would be ideal. And unfortunately, anything left behind on an evap test at all, including a tiny faint circle just on the outline of the drops is indeed a fail.

Im the same about ordering unusual items or items that are suspicious on the web.
I did order the Sydney Solvent Shellite x55 on amazon. Im hoping this is not a suspicious item. It is something necessary for cleaning.
But buying Heptane would seem a little too suspicious to me. So I need to find a clean non-polar to do the cleaning job or some other way to produce the crystals.

Do you know why the film is unsafe? IS it carcinogenic, poisonous, flamable?
