Some easy questions from a newbie

1. What is a good site to get root bark from?

2. Is inner rootbark better ?

3. For the acid, what acids can i use? Just Hydrochloric acid, or can i use any acids? Also, is it going to make a big difference if i use a reagent grade acid as opposed to distillied vinegar?

4. What brand of lye should i get now that Red Devil doesnt sell lye anymore?

5. is Vovin's guide (http://dmt-nexus.me/doc/Vovin's Unabridged Extraction guide.pdf) a good guide to follow?

6. If i follow the above guide, but instead of using separatory funnel, i just use a turkey baster to get the separated chemicals( either by disposing or collecting the top layer), is that going to cause any problems?

7. for naptha, if i let it evaporate, and it doesnt leave any residue, that means i can use it right?

See the "vendors" thread at the top of this forum. 100herbgalaxy and a few others have been generally recommended, Bouncing Bear seems pretty hit-or-miss

2. Is inner rootbark better ?

I've never bought it personally. I recall someone saying that they found the outer rootbark to contain more DMT, and the inner rootbark to contain more other alkaloids.

Any acid is fine, just aim for a pH of 3-ish. There's really a lot of leeway for this part. There's some indication that phosphoric acid may be an abnormally effective acid to extract with.

4. What brand of lye should i get now that Red Devil doesnt sell lye anymore?

Rooto if you can find it (check Lowes). If you can't find it locally, just do a google search for "lye", it turns up all sorts of deals.

5. is Vovin's guide (http://dmt-nexus.me/doc/Vovin's Unabridged Extraction guide.pdf) a good guide to follow?

Vovin's is very good, but he goes overboard on the cleanup steps in my opinion. Noman's and Marsofold's are simpler, and both can produce a fine product.

That should be fine.

Haha, oops, that's the one I was thinking of :lol:

I've heard Rooto is 100% NaOH also, but I think it comes as a liquid preparation, which makes me not trust it.
