Some nice mescaline sulfate crystals (thanks dg!)

This is my friend's first attempt at mescaline sulfate, which he documented and asked me to share. He has two previous tan HCl extractions under his belt. The yield this time was low, but the material recovered was, in his opinion, very nice looking. He has not tested it yet, but expects it to be quite enjoyable. The low yield is likely the result of bad starting material and a nasty cactus sludge emulsion trapping much of the limonene, not the salting technique, which my friend is likely to use for all future endeavors. It is slightly more labor-intensive, but not much, and the results speak for themselves.

I did HCl for a while, but I'm sold on Sulfate. I really enjoy the process, but even more importantly, I really enjoy the product.

I know you said you had some issues during the extraction, but it seems also using sulfate can make the yield seem low. The product is so much more pure than the tan HCl crystals, which I have heard can be as much as 40% other alkaloids.

unreliable_reality, you should definitely give it a go. It's no more complicated than the HCl route and eliminates the need to evap off an excess of volatile acid.

Mr. Peabody, the thought did occur to my friend that he was simply pulling a whole bunch of other stuff with the HCl, and that was why this round was so much lighter. In fact, he was expecting a slightly lower yield this time for that reason, but he didn't think his HCl was THAT impure; 350mg would do him and most people who tried it pretty right.

You say that you really enjoy the sulfate product. Is there any qualitative difference that you've found between the semi-crude HCl and the purer H2SO4 salts? And are the dosages generally comparable? I know the sulfate salt is heavier, so people say you should take a little more, but it's likely also purer in most instances. I'm sure my friend would love to hear about your findings.

I just liked that the product was so clean. My headspace seemed much cleaner with sulfate, and physically I felt better, with no upset stomach in sight. When I have taken HCl in the past, my body odor changed. That seemed kind of strange, and I did not like it. My girl friend was the one who really noticed, since it's hard to smell one's self. She was turned off because of it for about a week! I really didn't wash the mescaline or anything, so I'm sure there's better quality mescaline HCl out there than what I've made.

And as for the impurities, it's not that they are necessarily bad ones. There are quite a few psychoactive compounds in these cacti, and some of them will get pulled right along with mescaline when doing an HCl extraction. I think my HCl always ended up with trapped HCl which I could never really get rid of.

I have only tripped on sulfate once so far, but the same dosage seemed to take me about as far as HCl.

Awesome, thanks! The nausea and initial body load are the things keeping my friend's partner from trying mescaline, so hopefully this will change her mind.

Really nice work and awesome looking crystals. Could you maybe name the cactus and the weight (amount) of it, which was used for extraction? I would also appreciate a small wrap up of the steps your friend did throughout the extraction.

Btw: Shura gives a dosage of 200-400 mg as the sulfate salt and 180-360 mg as the HCl salt in phikal. Do you know what your friend did go for?

Thanks, Paradoxon. From what I understand, he used a mix of old powdered bridgessi from a crappy source (including cores etc, not potent) and some decent dried torch skins. Began as standard stb - mixing equal parts cactus and lye, here about 200g of each in a HDPE2 milk jug. The lye and distilled water were pre-mixed slowly in a separate glass vessel, making sure not to let lye sit on the sides of the glass, using appropriate safety equipment, etc. He let the basified mix sit for a day, then added about 1.5 inches worth of nonpolar layer (limonene). Then shake, wait, shake, wait for a while, stir, pull. Standard stuff, though his technique is still not perfect. Then followed dg's salting method (his excellent thread was called "simple titration and dual solvent crystallization" if you've not seen it), but with proportionally less acid to start (dg's is based on a kilo of good material, my friend's on 200g of mediocre-to-shitty material).

He hasn't tried it yet, but I think he will probably go for 350mg as a first try, since that is his preferred recreational HCl dose and Mr. Peabody feels the dosages are roughly equivalent.

Those crystals look like good purity, nice work! The more pure the better I say. They should make for a great journey and 350mg is a great medium level intensity. Also there are usually no problems with nausea with xtals unlike brew, but be sure to fast atleast good 4-6 hours before.
