spontaneous dosing

ok...i've had this discussion with many a friend...and everyone seems to have different opinions (go figure :) ).

myself...i prefer planned journeys. i think that a spontaneous experience every now and again is not only ok...but also needed...but i feel that psychedelics are something to be taken very seriously and very personally. i only travel when i'm called these days. i used to jump at the offer to take a vacation with someone. "what's that bro???? tonight...sure...i'd love to. see you in an hour." now...i seem to have rough experiences unless i've been called, so i have taken up a vow to only dose when called.

i have friends who have similar views...and i have friends who think that spontaneous journeys are the best. i guess this more or less crosses into the realm of whether or not you should journey because someone is asking you to come along/suggesting you should. i mean...if you're all alone and get the idea to travel...well then that, to me, is a calling. but if i have no desire to and haven't felt like it in awhile and a friend comes over and wants to...i feel that it would be doing it for the wrong reason.

obviously...this is my opinion and there is no right or wrong. just wondering what others think of this. i tend to be a bit more of a well thought out traveler than most people i know. i take the spirit world very serious. perhaps i take it too serious at times and need to lighten up. i don't know. i've just noticed a trend over the past year that when i dose on someone else's suggestion...i usually don't enjoy the outcome.

This really put me at ease because I'm planning on travelling tonight, and I was becoming apprehensive and doubting if I actually should. But I certainly feel called. Have been for a while. I think it's just cuz it's first aya trip.

Anyway, It depends on the substance for me. Who knows, after tonight, if all goes well, I may have a different outlook. As it stands now, I don't mind spontaneously dosing maybe mdma, but the rest of the time it is always planned. However, sometimes even when it's planned it can go bad. I once planned to take some Izzy (using slang to best avoid talking about what we shouldn't...)and follow it in an hour or two with mushies on a camping trip. It already wasn't going that well on the Izzy, and against my better judgement I took the mushies after the izzy had set in. It was the most difficult experience of my life, actually. Still, I guess I did feel pretty accomplished when it was all said and done, and I look back on it rather fondly...

Just gotta trust your gut, I guess. If I ever meet up with a friend in the morning on a day off with nothing to do, tons of sunshine, a soft breeze, and a smile on my face, and he/she offers me some acid and a good idea, you bet I'm game :)
 
I'm a bit of an experimental imporovisational musician and this has led me to the belief/realization that the entire universe itself is just an elaborate cross-spectrum version of music.
(In a nutshell)

Some of my most favorite pieces of music were improvised. And no doubt, the best music I have ever played has been improvised.

What I am getting at is I love to spontaneously dose when I realize the time is right. I dose whatever, whenever I feel like, which nowadays isn't much nor that often, but whenever I realize in the moment it could be done, I go for it. You just have to have all the parameters of the set and setting worked out.

I mean sure it's cool to say "I will dose This on This day" and that's all fine and dandy, but sometimes, there is magic in the moment.
 
For me i am a planned kinda person, everything has to be set up right, kinda like a ritual, as for spontaneously dosing i have done it, but just like house now a days its not so often, maybe because i don't fully feel like it, or i am in a way over it, idk all i know is i have had a nice spice crystal, and about 12 hits of L, which i have been sitting on for months now, just haven't been interested, any1 else experience this.
 
The call to voyage is most often spontaneous, the voyage is almost always well planned out.

I have some planned events throughout the year ie SHE, gatherings with close friends, Burning man, festivals. I know I'm going to voyage at those events.

spontaneous for me would be like....... I get the calling and I plan to do it the next afternoon or later that evening.

Rarely do I get the calling where it requires me to do it ASAP or NOW.

I have learned over the years that,

you get out of it what you put into it.

Proper prior planning, set and setting.

yes doc...i have several friends who have reached a reflection point. to to look at where you are...where you've been...and where you wanna go. last time i took a break...i went a year and a half integrating the last couple of journeys. now...i dropped back in like...december of last year...and have summoned the spice i think twice since then. i'm still digesting parts of my last L experience (it was crazy intense...one of those journeys you feel coming for over a year). i knew it was coming...been feeling it for awhile...so i went ahead and stepped respectfully into her waters...and had a beautiful experience that is still unraveling in my daily life. perhaps i won't be called back until i'm done integrating that experience.

yeah. i feel spontaneous dosing has it's place. i think it's a little more, for me, like ice house said

when i was younger...i would dose at a buddy's suggestion. like "hey FOAF...we should eat some cid." now...i feel that is disrespectful, almost. the experience has become so personal to me that i really don't wanna be around anyone when i enter that state. i'm hyper sensitive to others energies so often times..i spend the entire experience helping them (by channeling their energy in the beginning...and then talking with them once things have calmed down). sober...i can sense what others are going through...but when my ego is barely hanging on by a thread...i am unbelievably sensitive to others.

so spontaneous dosing can be touchy for me nowadays. like ice house said...the call is spontaneous but the experience is planned.

I've had the best experiences this way. Planning can destroy a lot. And you are more inclined to go for it even if you're not feeling ready just... because it was planned.
 
9 times out of 10 - i want to know that I am going to dose. However - in the right situation I have always kinda wanted to be dosed unknowingly to see how I would handle it. It would be pretty hard to find a friend that would be willing to do that though - and know the right time to do it.

i know it seems a little irresponsible. But I'm just curious to how I would handle it. I'm only talking about acid here.

As for pure spontaneity, like reaching into my fridge and pulling out a vile of acid and saying "hey, why not?". I've definitely been known to do that.
