STB - order of adding ingredients

I have a quick question in regards to STB extractions. When making the combining the mhrb, water, and lye, does it matter in which order the ingredients are added?

I know lye must be added to water and not the other way around,
but should I combine in this order: water > lye > mhrb
or this order: mhrb > water > lye ?


Any input would be greatly appreciated!

the order does matter. you put lye in water in small amounts wait there is no more reaction and than you can add mhrb. make sure you folow all the safety procedure cos lye can blind you forever.

i suggest you to read the tek all over again so you understand it perfectly. it looks to me you do not understand the important steps. be careful my friend

Add the lye to the water and make sure it is completely dissolved before adding the bark.
It doesn't really matter, but the bark can make it harder to mix and get the lye dissolved.

I see noman has posted already, and he seems to have extensive knowledge on the subject.

Im not sure if it matters, but I always add the MHRB last. I read somewhere that very strong concentrations of Lye can occur and damage/react with the bark if lets say the Lye clumps while adding it to the already mixed water/MHRB

please correct me if this is completely bogus
