step 3 on the BLAB tek ??

Hi I am about to start my very first extraction am using the BLAB tek
but not 100% sure on the step 3 where it says
"The first 2 pulls can be done in about 1-2 hours. After about an hour of mixing then separating and mixing and separating,"
Does this mean I have to mix and let it settle then mix again let settle then mix again for an hour or two ? between the first two pulls then leave a day to settle between each of the next three pulls?

I jhust wanted to check before I start

any help much appreciated

No need to wait between pulls. As soon as one is out, the next one is in for mixing. But yes, when the pull is in, you do a few cycles of mixing/letting stand before you finally pull it out.

Ive got Sodium carbonate,
This is my first time so Im just trying to follow the tek to the word and see what results,

Sodium carbonate is a base, not an acid. To salt out of limonene you need an acid, in the tek it gives the possibilities of fumaric acid or acetic acid/vinegar.. What are you going to use?

I have got fumaric acid to use for that
At the moment the mhrb is mixed with the vinegar and will be ready to add the lye tomorow eve.
do you think there would be any benefit in waiting longer than the 3 days as stated in the tek?

This has nothing to do with the post really, since I have never used the BLAB tek. I just wanted to let you know the endlessness knows his/her shit and it would be advised to listen and accept help from him/her if said help was offered. Plenty of good advise has come from endlessness.

If its powdered bark, I would suspect even doing less than 3 days will be just fine and wont make yields smaller. So in other words, wait if you want/have to, but there's no need, if you want to base and extract already, feel free

Fumaric acid is great, that way you'll have your fumarates for storage, and conversion to dmt freebase doing the slow water crystallization is very nice So I guess you'll do FASW salting pulls on the limo ? Or FASI?

Well I do have IPA, though Im thinking of trying the FASW
In your opinion, are there benifits using the alchol?

FASI:

Advantages: Nice to see alkaloids crystalize straight out of solvent over the days. Much less fumaric acid contamination in the final product

Disadvantages: Sometimes precipitation can be gooey, then anyways you'll need to redissolve in a bit of water, re-evap, wash with dry acetone/IPA.

FASW

Advantages: Just mix and separate, then evaporate, no need to wait days for it. Product will be solid in the end. If you want freebase with part of it, you can just add a sodium carb saturated water to the reduced FASW+DMT pulls, and then stick in the fridge, and over the next couple of days you'll have your water-crystalized freebase dmt. You can divide the FASW wash in half, freebase half and keep the other as fumarates for storage, for example..

Disadvantages: More fumaric acid contamination (which can be removed with acetone or IPA wash), energy to evaporate the water

Regardless of how you do, I recommend doing some IPA wash on your fumarates (dont throw the used wash IPA away before you make sure your yield is good and nothing was lost during wash). I recommend this to get rid of limonene traces, which even though isnt at all toxic, its still imo better to have dmt without solvent smell, as clean as possible.

Thanks Endlessness, I have decided to go with the fasw tek
Upon mixing a teaspoon of fumaric acid with 150ml of water,
Is it usual that the powder seems reluctant to mix and floats on top of the water in a foam? a little has sunk to the bottom and the water is a little cloudy, In your opinion is this ok and ready to decant away from the solids,

Yeah decant/filter. I dont recall any foam on top, is it pure fumaric acid?

Not much fumaric acid dissolves in water, hence indeed just a bit will alreayd saturate it.

99.9% fumaric acid food grade maybe i just put too much in I shall filter and use it thanks very much for your help
