Storing DMT in liquid form

I have not yet extracted my DMT (MHRB should be arriving any day now :d :d), but I plan to follow Noman's tek and extract DMT freebase.

I have been reading up on the long-term storage of DMT, and wanted to potentially store my spice in a glass vial with dropper. What is the best liquid for dissolving the DMT into? Acetic acid? IPA?

I also want to be able to quickly convert the dissolved DMT back into smokable freebase, and I know this is possible using acetic acid (from q21q21's tek). Has anyone had any luck storing DMT in liquid form, and if so, what liquid did you use? Or do I not really need to worry about storage as long as it's kept air-tight and light controlled?

I dont see why go through the trouble of dissolving it in a solvent if you already have it in the form you want. DMT can be kept very well, specially if you take care with things like air/humidity, light and temperature. But even old dmt kept in not-very-favourable conditions has been perfectly active ime. Also check FAQ regarding dmt storage

If anyways you really want it in liquid form, i would say a solvent like acetone or ethanol or IPA, because you can always just evap it to get your dmt back, not with acetic acid because you would have to add lye to crystallize it, so you would be dependent on that extra step, more unnecessary trouble.
 
I've never experienced any degradation of product just by storing in amber glass vials.

I think much of this talk of DMT oxidizing to a goo in non-favourable conditions is very much overstated.

For your purpose though I'd use IPA or ethanol, as they evap slower than acetone which can evap too fast leaving a goo behind that takes a little longer to recrystalise.
 
Ah, thanks for the info. I forgot to mention that I also wanted to put it in liquid form to measure doses. I only have a .1g scale, so I figured I could dissolve a known amount of DMT into solvent and then measure out fairly accurate mg doses. So in that case, which solvent would work best? (quick evap might be helpful in this case)
 
I remember reading somewhere (sorry, don’t have the source) that DMT salts, which are ordinarily very stable, decompose over time when kept in solution. I’m not sure if the same applies to freebase, but generally, any substance in solution can react/decompose more easily than the same substance isolated in a “dry” form.

Thanks :d I'm going out to buy the remaining extaction supplies today so ill try and find some acetone as well

Yup. If you're storing the freebase in solution, I think you'd need to take more drastic measures (like keeping the liquid under an inert atmosphere) compared to storing the free base crystals, which keep pretty well when kept away from heat and humidity.

So there you go better keep as powder and if you want to divide by dissolving and dividing the solution, better do this when youre gonna use it or something, or already evap the divided liquid and keep as powder for when you need. Or get a better scale :D
 
A 0.01 gr scale should be cheap, between 20/30$, and saves you a lot of trouble. Also, for me, the first times I did DMT myself I used a scale to measure, but after a few times when you know what the amounts look like, you can be pretty accurate by just eyeballing it. Goodluck!

My MHRB is currently soaking in it's lye mix 😉
 
Didn't really read all the posts just wanted to note that SWIM's acetate tinctures sealed in amber vials are just as active as the day they were made and that was over 6 months ago. With the spoon-method and a little practice it takes no more than 2 minutes to prepare a dose for smoking with about +/- 1mg precision/accuracy (more accuracy would mean slighty more time but the precision can be REALLY high)
