Storing Yopo

Hey everyone

I have some yopo but I really don't think I can handle it just now.

Any advice on how to store it properly?

The three major things that contributes to the breakdown of molecules are heat, light and oxygen. Therefore, the best would be to store your Yopo in an airtight container (preferably with a vacuum) in your freezer. Bufotenin is, however, very very stable and will last for a long time even if the conditions are not optimal.

Freezing does not destroy anything at all, it does exactly the opposite - prevent destruction. Heat is the movement of molecules. When the molecules move fast, in other words if the heat is high, some of the molecules can be damaged. With oxygen present, the material can be oxidized (electrons are removed from the atoms). Therefore, if you are freezing something in an airtight container, the movement (heat) and the oxidation is reduced to a minimum, thus a minimum is broken down.

bufotenine lasts forever dude...they tested pipes from the incas that are thousands of years old that still contain bufotenine...very stable molecule.

Well, these pipes were likely found underground, thus being concealed over the years in an air-tight, somewhat cold and dark environment. It is not likely that the bufotenin would have survived if it were out in the open. That said, you are totally correct that bufotenin is very stable. It is, however, not a bad idea to keep it away from air and light, and then why don't just toss it in the freezer? I don't know about you, but I keep every dried ethnobotanical I have in the freezer, that way I am totally sure they will last for even years.

Absolutely! Psilocin is much more unstable than bufotenin, so it will degrade after some time, but it will still keep it's potency at least a couple of years if stored air-tight and freezed.
