Tea, anyone?

So I tried to make some Caapi tea to help enhance my next attempt at vaping DMT, and also wanted some to use with viridis later. I started off with 100g powdered "ecuadorian" vine and followed the 3x3 procedure as close as I could, using about 1 tbsp white vinegar per liter.

Here's how it ended up, this doesn't seem normal from what I've seen but I'm no chemist and this is my first time... any ideas why it's seperating out like this? And which part do I drink? I'm guessing the lighter colored stuff, but maybe it should all be mixed back up together? I'm sure it's due to something I did wrong. I think I may have got it too hot during part of the process, and also had a hard time filtering. My source material was very finely powdered and pretty much turned to mud when mixed into the water, the liquid wouldn't pass through any of my strainers. :?

I'm considering maybe trying to make an extract out of this instead of drinking it as-is... If so, which part of the liquid should I perform it on? If both, would it be best to do them together or seperately? Or is this batch just ruined altogether?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is that from forest RX by chance..? That stuff is pretty bunk my brother.

I believe snozz tested it and found it contained only maltodextrin and harmine.

This makes sense because I had some and it was very --low on the magic- sort of like pharma.

No it was from Phytoextractum, which I believe is a company with a good rep.

OK sweet. Good luck, Ayahusca is the most paranormal thing I have ever known. So very perfect

Here's what their site says about it:

Banisteriopsis Caapi (Cielo, Yage) - Ecuadorian Yellow Powder

Banisteriopsis caapi, also known as Ayahuasca, Caapi or Yage, is a South American jungle vine of the family Malpighiaceae. It contains harmine, harmaline, and tetrahydroharmine, all of which are both beta-carboline harmala alkaloids.

Our yellow Ecuadorian Caapi is grown in Ecuador without the use of pesticides or herbicides and finely powdered to a maximum of 60 mesh.

Excellent material for researchers who would like to study Ecuadorian grown material, which is rarely found in the marketplace.

so if there's no harmaline imma be pissed. :p

Oh man I got stoned and forgot to answer your question...lol

So for caapi you want to use a muslin filter (a fine mesh filer) there should be some very fine sediment in it for the full spectrum effect IMO.

Hm.. well how "fine" is "fine"? Because it won't go through a tea strainer, or a regular metal kitchen sieve with holes about 1/16", maybe bigger.... :?

muslinbag.com

seriously the best way to make caapi tea IMO

I learned this trick from K.T b0tanica(s.. I ordered their extract and it was sweet as honey!!! It was delicious..

I was so amazed that I sent them an e-mail asking how they made it and they told me this...

I think it's wider guage than cheese-cloth, I could be wrong though

I dunno the stuff I'm thinking of has spaces like 1/2" wide. :p It's more like a net than a cloth. It wouldn't help to seperate the liquid from the solid at all, I'm just being silly.

So if I went ahead and did the "simple extraction" on it instead of drinking it, would the solids be a problem?

The black caapi extract that I got from K.T botanicals was like a very light oil. But it was very nice to drink and worked very well....I think if just the very finest particulates are left in there then it's not prob and ensures your stuff is strong..

IMO caapi should be slightly thick unlike mimosa tea. No sediment though as in nothing settles to the bottome it's just like an light oil.

Here's the extraction I had in mind, you start off brewing it like I've done so far but then you go further and take out all the alkaloids, and I think you end up with a powder not a liquid?

Unless someone thinks it's a bad idea I think I'm going to try this process on the tan liquid, then on the chocolate sauce seperately, and see what happens.

I was thinking of doing that tek as well but I am unsure if ALL the caaapi alkaloids get in there...+ I found the oil tastes so delicious I consider it a part of the experience...

The caapi honey taste is pretty awesome.

I'll definitely have to try that in the future, sounds great. But this thing has apparently already taken a wrong turn somewhere, I just want to try and salvage something useful from it at this point. I can't imagine ending up with anything resembling oil or honey, unless I extract the alkaloids and put THAT in some honey I suppose. 😉

Thanks very much for the input!

All right, so, I eventually ended up with something resembling tea. I watered down my mud with a large amount of R/O water and some vinegar, and then was able to filter it. Let the remaining sediments settle, poured off the water, and cooked it down to a more reasonable amount.

But I think I may have added too much vinegar, the liquid smells strongly of it and just from dipping a finger in to taste it I can tell it's going to be rough going down. So my question is does anyone know a way to reduce the vinegar taste? Maybe adding lime or something to lower the PH? Or if I added a bunch more water and cooked it down again, would that steam some of it out or would it all still be in there?
