Temperature of lye and water.

Hey guys, in an STB would there be any advantage to using a ROOM TEMPERATURE lye and water mixture for a longer period of time? I've read people claim they only got "yellow goo" when going into hot water/lye. Others don't mention temperature but discuss recrystallization or defatting with hot solvent prior to basification.. others say damn the whole thing and go a/b.

Defatting with hot solvent, then basification, then doing pulls with HEATED solvent from unheated lye/water - would work.

Any feedback would be nice, you see im very obsessive. Still this is for theory for mr, I'm taking a harsh laboratory class at my university and this is the sort of theoretical project I would like to comprehend step by step. It'd an excellent exercise for me.. just by typing this out I can recollect an earlier buffer problem I was struggling horrifically with. It's not so I could attempt a extraction, but I need to understand the theory (emphasis)
Thanks =8^D

More heat = moar gunk.
Using room temp lye and water would slighlty reduce yield while improving purity but usually not a high impact unless you heat for long times.
