Dear fellow explorers,

After a few years of inactivity, I am pleased to announce that I have made a lot of experimentation since my last update, and am ready to start contributing again to this community I hold very dearly.

Intro and Context:
Throughout the years, I tried the vast majority of methods out there, some of which are well known, some of which I came up with, some of which I tweaked.

I honestly used to think that VaporGenie paid people on here to advertise their product, and was convinced there existed better methods. I was looking for the Holy Grail, the method that would dethrone the GVG.

I intend to eventually create a separate thread detailing and comparing every method I tried, but I would ideally like to try a few more and perfect my technique with some of them for the thread to be more complete before doing so, so I won't go into it for now to keep the focus on the matter at hand.

I found a lot of methods that honestly outranked the GVG in one way or another, but I kept coming back to the GVG. Even though it wasn't perfect, it still was the perfect balance.

Being the kind of person to tune and upgrade everything I get my hands on, I decided that since I couldn't find something that beats it, I would take a radically different approach in my quest for the Holy Grail, and try to upgrade the GVG itself in an attempt to improve its performances.

I won't dive into the details, but it took some trial and error to get there, I have tried about half a dozen different iterations of this idea before I came up with this much more simplistic approach, which it turns out yields the most performance of them all by a wide margin.

The Upgrade/Mod:
The concept is simple: ruby balls as a thermal battery (don't worry, it's not expensive).

Here is how to do it:
Just place 21 2mm Ruby Balls in the removable top, right beneath the ceramic filter, held against it by a simple mesh disc.

I decided to go with 21 balls for the symbolic power of this number across various spiritual and esoteric traditions, I was willing to try other quantities to fine tune the performance output, but as it turns out, I didn't need to.

The theory is that the rubies would catch and stabilize direct heat before it enters the chamber, and keep it in for longer after killing the flame, and it works like a charm.

For the bottom of the chamber, I found that the VaporGenie "liquid pads" were the best of what I've tried so far, I am tempted to try the pre loaded ceramic discs on top of it, as I have read some good things about them, just for the sake of experimentation, and for the convenience of having multiple prepared doses on hand, but I don't need it at the moment, so that will be for later.

I also decided to perfect my technique and streamline the process, which I will share in another thread.

I can easily breakthrough in a single hit with this mod and my technique, but the takeoff is much smoother than other single hit breakthrough methods I've tried so far.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them.
Please also feel free to experiment, improve, add and share, any contribution is most welcome!

Haven't hit the gvg since I got my mighty+ with the glass water pipe attachment. Cant say it hasn't been calling me back lately though. I use the preloaded ceramic disk with the gvg that I'm tempted to stick in the mighty+ dosing cap as it fits perfectly to see how it plays out.

I'd love to see some pictures of this!
The first versions had the rubies at the bottom of the chamber, so they were visible through the glass and it looked pretty good, especially under UV light, since rubies shine bright red under UV. I might have a picture somewhere, but the performances were not great. This last and best version by far has the rubies before the chamber, in the opaque removable top, right beneath the ceramic filter, so you don't see them unfortunately.

I haven't tried the Mighty+ due to the cost, but I get what you're saying. I used an E-Cig for a while and it was so efficient and practical that I only used that for maybe a year, but there is just something about the GVG that keeps calling me back...

Which ceramic discs do you use? The Elev8? I'd also be tempted to try the WaxNax inserts.

In the old nexus forum .....the glass vapor geni ......was king for a while... ...we had a lot of smart chemists then. ..then .....the E mesh vape arrived.....
.[with the right DMT dosage]..... the E Mesh could send your brain into the next galaxy!!
The conduction EMESH vaporized the molecule so fast!! ...that sometimes part of the dose would burn... but often was still very effective..
IF mod set on temp control and the electronics were accurate..the E mesh COULD... vape near perfectly... just like taking a breath of fresh air... no harshness at all...
many mod temp controls were not perfect.... and setting the temperature was confusing...so many used wattage control that worked well also...
Then later came EMESH convection...thats another story...:sneaky:

I'm in the process of testing as many different methods as I can get my hands on to make the most complete and objective comparison possible, which I will compile into a single thread. I've tried the E-Mesh, but so far the GVG in this configuration is still my favorite method.

As stated, I have found a number of methods that outranked the GVG in one way or another, but there is just something about the GVG that keeps drawing me back to it.

Vaporizing a full breakthrough dose in a single hit is nothing new under the sun, I've achieved it with multiple methods, including a 30 schmeckles dab rig. I can easily clear a full breakthrough dose in a single hit with the GVG with this upgrade and my technique. In my experience, spice is not as complicated to vaporize as some would have you think, all it really takes is willpower, I have yet to find a method that doesn't work at all.

I get that the E-Mesh is the new fad, but it doesn't do anything that no other method can do, apart from not being very technical to use, but it has its downsides too, so in my book it doesn't necessarily dethrone the GVG. I think an e-liquid based vape is better than the E-Mesh, because with the E-Mesh you have to dose, load and vaporize the entire dose you loaded in a single hit, otherwise it will melt into the connections, which are not very easy to clean, if not outright impossible. Meanwhile with the E-Cig you only have to prepare and load your e-liquid once every now and then, and you can fine tune the dosage just by inhaling more or less, which is much more practical. Most other methods (GVG, Mighty+ etc) can also work with pre-loaded capsules or pads that can easily be swapped, which is not the case with the E-Mesh.

E mesh has never been a fad...it a newer proven method of vaping ..

GVG was conduction vaping using ...a gas flamed lighter ... was a little bit unhealthy as the person inhales burnt butane gas with the spice vapor... spacing the flame far enough above the bowl to vaporize the molecule without burning it took some practice.....

With E mesh all you needed to do was set the mod to the right temperature or wattage...and hit the button and it vaporized the goods extreemly fast even faster than the GVG..
Yes the GVG was a great unit in its time...but E Mesh is a newer method that doesnt use ... flame combustion...its all electronic and easier to use for most people... the E mesh vaporized the molecule extreemly fast...and if the right temperature was used it was extreemly effective..

Booth methods were good...only the E Mesh method is newer and different...

I have personally never managed to burn spice with a GVG.

In principle, all of the butane is converted to carbon dioxide and water vapor during combustion and there is no leftover butane being inhaled. Vapes also come with their own health risks such as possible presence of heavy metals, and even exploding batteries. The E-Mesh is indeed one of the best methods, I have tried it and am in no way saying the contrary, but I personally prefer the GVG.

We invented the compound bow after we invented guns and the nuke, that doesn't mean that the compound bow is the superior weapon and guns and the nuke have become obsolete.

Anyways, this thread is not a debate on which device is better, this is a highly subjective topic anyways. I am preparing a comparison thread where I try to compare all the methods I've tried the most objectively possible based on certain metrics, you will be most welcome to share your observations on different methods and how they compare there. This thread is about an upgrade/mod for the GVG aimed at those who are interested in using the GVG and improving its performance.

Yes....(y) they are booth good methods of vaping!

GVG was conduction vaping...

This statement requires clarification to say the least. Try include radiative heat in your eventual explanation, which promises to be most, euh... Creative, if not entertaining, and while doing so why not also comment on secondary/tertiary thermal denaturations occuring with conduction mode which the e-Mesh somehow ain't supposed to cause!

Reading this i get an impression suggesting the substance format simply calls for a consumption method similar to dabbing, e.g. with its capillary action promoting an accumulation of hard lacquer residues, etc., but that's the price to pay. In short the tool needs to be properly matched to its workload and hence quality of such matching says little on the tool's own performance, only the user's decision.

Can you share your exact method with the GVG with as much detail as possible please. I have one Im just worried i will drop it I have literally only tried it once and went back to a Yocan Cylo.

Thanks for the information!

I don't quite understand how you hold the rupy in place. Do you have a link to mesh disc and rupy balls you use?

I've been using the GVG for 7 or 8 years. Very reliable once you get the technique down.
