I've sprouted several seedlings. This is the first healthy one. Apparently rue prefers common gardening soil over cactus potting mix, which would cause the seedlings to wither and die after about a month and a half.

İ tried growing rue a few times over the years, but the seedlings always failed after a certain point. There is no necessity for growing in my case, because an infinite abundance of high quality wild rue grows over vast landscapes starting a few hours of drive from where I live, so I didn't push on. The climate conditions and soil are very important. Too damp conditions will not work, and the soil it consistently grows on is always very light gray colored, bordering on white - highly calcerous, alkaline soil. Your soil does not look very promising, but who knows.

I've seen your beautiful photos, that's why I used cactus mix! Given this, I'll remember to keep the soil dry and see what happens.

When you tried growing seedlings, did you sow them pots or the earth? Given its root growth characteristics, I think rue might prefer ground over pot.
