Timewave Zero thoughts after 2012?

Migrated topic.

Joe Rogan recently had a podcast with Terence's brother where they discussed the timewave zero theory among many other things that Terence did. He explains how terence tried many different starting points for the model before adopting the Mayan 2012 calender end date as the end date to the timewave model. It's actually pretty interesting since Dennis doesn't seem to be much of a supporter of Terence's most extreme ideas and actually gives some background into how the theories developed.

Here's the interview... (a forewarning, Joe has a 5-10 minute introduction/infomercial deal)

Joe Rogan.......
:!:

Everyone has to hate something/someone I guess. Alot of people bash Joe Rogan without any real reason I think.

I like Joe Rogan..always have. I like his stand up..I like his show and he's definatly not a stupid guy.

i like his stand up too, don't get me wrong.

but i have more than one person come up to me asking about DMT after hearing a joe rogan podcast, and they were totally misinformed (both about the molecule itself and the experience) and ended up not wanting to try it after i had a long open discussion with them.

i feel he is bringing unnecessary attention, and attracting people who may not necessarily be ready for it.

the misinformation isn't a plus, but he doesn't seem to do it as much (not that i pay even remotely close attention) and its not much worse than what you will see in other corners of the web.

its just, i see /b/tards and the like who have clearly never tried DMT recommending DMT to people who have no business (emotional trauma or what have you) trying DMT. i see no good that can come of it (in all fairness my vision is not a good indicator).

the recent crackdown on MHRB has me especially worried, and i am sure it is due at least in part to some of the massive attention gathered by rogan.

but yea, he is an alright comedian (even though his jokes about history[egypt particularly] are also terribly misinformed), and probably a cool guy (though in all honestly he does seem like he could be a bit of an asshole - which most MMA guys can be)

Never said I hated him.... in fact the opposite, read the thread and you'd know that.

Just in case You didn´t found out, there´s a new article at the page devoted to the Timewave Zero software Terence McKenna's Timewave Zero and the Fractal Time software called The Zero Date Reconsidered Timewave Zero: The Zero Date Reconsidered. Ande here´s my e-conversation with head memetic architect of the TWZ SW, Mr. Peter Meyer, as it will be continued, though:

Hello x,

> I am a huge fan of Your work and read the article ,The Zero Date
> Reconsidered´. Do You have any valid argument that the new Zero Date will
> mark the Eschaton?

I assume that this is a question regarding the Eschaton rather than a question about the new zero date. The argument in support of the latter is contained in the article, and is valid. Whether the conclusion is true depends on whether the premises are true.

As for the Eschaton (what will happen at the end of time), Terence claimed that it would occur at the zero date. I'm not aware of any argument for or against this claim.

Regards,
Peter Meyer

I see. So we have to wait another 5 or so years, just to found out if anything quite remarkable will happen on the new ,Zero Date´. I´m sorry for being such a sceptic, just doesn´t want to be disappointed again, as on 21 December 2012. Anyway thanks for such an answer.

I'm sure remarkable things will be happening as we approach 2018.

> doesn´t want to be disappointed again, as on 21 December 2012.

You were disappointed because you believed what Terence said. But as I point out in the article, Terence did not have solid grounds for his estimate of the zero date (an estimate he made in the 1980s), whereas the article provides more plausible reasoning in support of the new zero date. Of course, you should decide for yourself whether that reasoning is plausible, and don't just take my word for it.

Peter Meyer

Thanks for answer!
