Titrating DMT from naptha

Migrated topic.

Hi,

So I've been messing with some upscaling, but this means that I have quite a lot of naphtha that comes from the pulls. This is actually too much to evaporate it down to a supersaturated fluid. This would take a couple of weeks, so I want to try different ways to extract the goodies from the naphtha.

Now I tried titration on a small 150ml batch, but the water is evaporating at the moment.
To be on the same level, this is how I tried to titrate:
-Measured 150ml
-Made acid water (pH of around 2-3
-measured pH of the naphtha - > pH of 7 it was
-Added I guess around 100ml of the water (with some pH measurements in between) it began to decrease the pH.
-When I've added the acific water, the PH when from 2-3 to around 8-9.
- I met adding water until it turned to 6-7.
- I had to add 300ml of water to decrease the pH.
- Seperated the naphtha from the water
- I put the water in a hot water bath.

Now I have a couple of things I am not sure about...
I am supposed to lower the PH, but does this mean I have to add enough water so that the water keeps the neutral PH? Also I tried to evaporate the water down, what should be the maximum temperature to evaporate the water down the quickest without ruining the dmt? Because I added quite a lot of water to the naptha it should take a long time to evaporate, is it possible to add a small amount of water, but really acidific, so the pH lowers really quick? And how much dmt can water hold?

There's not much sense in adding more acid than is necessary, especially if you're using a non-volatile acid.

Considering boiling with acid is part of several extraction methods, evaporating on a hot water bath is nothing to worry about. Increasing airflow would hasten evaporation - using an inert gas would lessen the possibility of oxidation.

Don't go too high on the acid concentration, there are practical reasons for keeping the volume of polar phase within a certain proportion of the non-polar phase.

Most DMT salts are exceedingly soluble in water.
