toluene extract not crystallizing

SWIM has done Noman's tek. 1.5 l of water -> 7 tbs of lye -> 1/4 lb mimosa -> shaken not stirred -> toluene -> rolled and left for a 5-6 hours -> sucked out the toluene on top and threw it in the freezer for 24 hours (SWIM saw a few white little powder things in the toluene) -> SWIM took it out put it through a coffee filter and poof! nothing on the coffee filter! just toluene and looked to be an ice cube :shock:

SWIM collected the toluene in disappointment, threw it back in the freezer, and is wondering what SWIM did wrong..

help or advice will be greatly appreciated

dmt is very soluble in toluene. swiy would need to evaporate the toluene, freeze precip will likely not work

Yes exaclty you will need to redissolve in another solvent like naptha or hexane. But the red goo you get from evapping down the toluene is also smokable and oddly potent.

couldnt the spice be pulled out by adding fasa - works for xylene - does it work for tolulene ? - also does tolulene smell any better than xylene ?
and is there any diff in what tolulene extracts compared to xylene or dlimonene ?

evap it all the way down to get oily something... SWIM would first of all redissolve it in alcohol and let it evaporate, repeating this step again.. this, together with using a knife or something to scrape the oily product and rub it back into the container a few times, should get it to harden up to a waxy consistence. One could smoke this (SWIM doesnt like, he feel even redissolving in alcohol, there is still toluene/xylene remains, and he hate these toxic solvents).

or also as mentioned SWIY could use a minimum amount of warm naphtha (maybe 30ml naphtha per original 100g of mimosa), let it dissolve some of the jungle spice for a couple of minutes. The naphtha should pick up the dmt and leave the rest of the jungle spice undissolved. So now you can do the freezer step with this naphtha and get pure dmt
