i've been having a bitch of a time trying to find a local source for toluene. home depot only has Xylol Xylene. Is the Xylol pure Xylene? I couldnt find any info on the label regarding the purity. i want to experiment with pulling the red spice but dont want to poison myself when injesting. i'd prefer to get the toluene if possible, since it seems it comes more recommended than xylene.

ace hardware on wisconsin ave in DC. check there. Look for the name TOLUOL on the can.

thats funny, i meant to check there today but ran short on time (had to go pick someone up). ace is great. do you personally prefer toluene or xylene? i always thought toluene was the preferred solvent, but i just read something on the information board where people were saying xylene was better?

Yeah, I've seen posts before saying "Ew, xylene? That's some noxious shit, it's safer to use toluene instead." But then I also see posts saying the exact opposite. I haven't ever looked into the issue. As I understand it, both are bad to inhale the fumes too long, but as long as you make sure to evaporate completely, they don't pose any health risks with regards to the extracted material.

They're both horrible to work with and if you don't have ventilation make you sick to the stomach and give you a headache.
Both seem to pull the same stuff, but toluene doesn't stink as bad as xylene and it evaporates faster.

i went ahead and went with the toluene. ace is the place. thanks xeno and everyone else who replied.

if xylol smells worse than toluene, then i'm glad i didnt buy it. just tried my first toluene pull on my leftover soup and the smell made me want to gag
