Too Much Carbon?

Hey guys!
I've done a fair share of dmt extractions throught STB style.
Today I did a recrystallization with heptane as ussually with added carbon, but I had such impure dmt that I could not get a clear solution it remained slightly yellow even after many carbon washes. Finally I decide it would be hindering to add any more carbon so I pour my solution into the tray that will cool then eventually freeze. But as the crystals cooled I noticed that the crystal had very small traces of carbon. Like the crystals were slightly black. The crystals looked absoulty clean except the black tint from what I believe is from the carbon.
Anyone know how to remove excess carbon? Or anything I can do?
Thanks!
Oh and just another quick question, when cleaning my solutions from oils and what not can I still get clear/white crystals if the carbon cleaned solution is still yellow? Ive always been able to clean until the solution was clear or just barely tinted yellow until today.

I would think you would pour the mix through a pad of Diatomaceous earth if you have the proper type while sucking it through a buch. funnel.

You could do your de-colorizing with a mag mixer for ten minutes and then pour that thru the pad. You could repeat that a few times to really lighten the crystals and remove all traces of carbon. Im sure some other peeps here could elaborate if necessary..

I would dissolve the DMT in hot napatha and filter.
If you wanted to clean it up a bit more you could back salt it then filter.
Re base again and pull with solvent any one of these should work.
I would filter with a charmin plug.
