Total lost after additional purification of mescaline HCL

Hi fellows!

Although this is my first post, I've been reading actively DMT Nexus for ages.
I must say I found here great knowledge, it had been really helpful on my path with DMT, either for using or extracting.
I want to tell my gratefulness to those that helped me through their sharing (to many to name them!), may them be blessed!
Please folks excuse my english, it's not my native tongue and I'm trying to do my best ;)!

So lately I did a mescaline extraction (Kash tek's, God bless you mate!), and from 200 g of Echinopsis peruviana I ended with a good 1,08 g of nice mescaline HCL.
I aimed to do an additional purification (still Kash's), and after following step by step the procedure, when filtering I ended with a really small amount of green goo, almost nothing... No crystal at all...
Does anyone know what could have happened?
I should specify that I used a magnetic stirrer to mix fumaric acid with methanol, which I left totally dissolve. Then I used this stirrer again after the solution turned cloudy (more slower and for a short moment only), could this be my mistake?

Thank you for taking interest to my post fellows, looking forward to read your advices!

It bears repeating, the golden rule of extraction - don't throw anything away until you're sure you know where the goods are.

However, in your case it appears that whatever alkaloids you got from the cactus were soluble as the fumarates in methanol you used.

*what grade of methanol is it?
*did you take steps to ensure the methanol was anhydrous (free from water)?
*how did you confirm that the 1.08 g of material you obtained was indeed mescaline HCl and not something else?

Hi Downwardsfromzero,

So the methanol is lab grade, 99,85%. Considering its purity I didn't dry it, do you think it's a mistake?
And I couldn't confirm the 1,08g were actually mescaline. I only assumed that after following conscientiously Kash's Tek what I did yield was mescaline, unfortunately I couldn't bioassay the product...

Methanol is hygroscopic - it will still absorb moisture from the atmosphere to an extent.
So the hope is that mescaline fumarate dissolves in damp methanol.

If you haven't disposed of any methanol you should still be ok. You would have to evaporate the methanol (careful with the toxicity!) to recover your extract - along with all that fumaric acid you added. It would then be prudent to mix the recovered solids with some base and pull with NPS, then repeat the acidification, etc.

But dry your methanol using one of the established procedures.

If you haven't got the methanol, well, now at least you'll always remember the Golden Rule...

Well... As you said I'll remember the golden rule for the rest of my days, cause I haven't kept the methanol... This lesson probably worth the price of my loss.
Thank you for taking the time to give me an answer mate, I'll let you know about my next attempt!
