Transdermal Cannabis

Migrated topic.

Boundary condition
I just cured myself of a nasty skin infection in 4 days using topical cannabis-infused avocado oil.

The oil is supposed to have a high CBD/THC ratio but from the way I've been feeling I'm not so entirely sure about that. Not that I'm complaining, in fact I'm highly impressed. My anxiety levels are at an all-time low so there's definitely a good amount of CBD involved.

The subjective effects are noticeably different from smoked or oral cannabis. Sort of like feeling high without feeling stoned. I'm definitely still retaining good cognitive function (by my own standards, at least :? ) There's a clear bodily side to the high which I feel corresponds with the ROA. I also note a certain, slight paraesthesia rather like a low dose of Salvia divinorum.

It's very easy to drift of into reverie with the eyes closed, although I've been a bit sleep deprived for a few days so that confounds things somewhat.

Data points: cannabis-infused avocado oil is highly effective for transdermal absorption of active compounds. Other carrier oils would distinguish the effects of the avocado oil to some degree (but if it ain't broke, why fix it?!) Different guinea pigs may experience differing effects. May be of use in treating some skin infections but there's a certain degree of technique involved in the application as well.

I'll have to report back on the long term efficacy vis-a-vis the skin healing as I've had this problem before. It's an interesting opportunity to be trying out an alternative healing method. Will attach skin pics when I find camera cable!

Found the cable! Here's the pictures of the skin area treated.

It's unfortunate that no 'before' pictures are available.

I did transdermal cannabis too, DIY with coconut virgin oil as base, double boiling the leaves full of trichomes ( trimming leaves ).
I like a lot that you use this product orally, transdermally or even sublingually, rectally ...
Now I didn't play with avocado oil yet, I did one other with hemp seed oil to have a liquid oil tincture too, but I used most for oral use.

Now about the skin I found the coconut oil infused canabis was very good for eczema and skin stress in general. relief immediately and the skin repair fast after only a few days or using it. It didn't cure the root of the skin problem but I research and try treat what I believe is the cause of this specific skin condition.
At times using a lot all over my body, I would feel the effect, it comes on more slowly and hit way easier than oral the same dose, but it does have some psychoactivity on its own, as topical use. It is rather soothing. No brain fog noted.
I find the ROA the least spectacular as far mental effects goes but it feels good physically and mentally.

I might try and use avocado oil to compare the quality. all oils have different ones but coconut is very special in that it is solid in room temperature, liquid if lightly heaten.

All in all, transdermal cannabis is underrated, especially for skin stress and anxiety in general ( nice to massage you oil after a good shower or bath ).

Or even before a bath...in phytotherapy, it is occasionally recommended to apply an oil blend before taking a nice long soak in a warm, soap-free bath. The heat encourages transdermal penetration, provided no soap is present to strip the film away, of course. Showers don't have the same effect, also tending to remove the oil.

But nice OP, Downwards, filed to the memory-bank. Incidentally, IIRC one of the traditional uses of Salvia D. was as a healing skin-wash... No further info was provided. Maybe Travsha or T. Harper have heard of this/know more?

Thanks for the replies, folks.

r0m, your description of the subjective effects seems to follow mine quite closely. It feels good but isn't overwhelming. Although after 5 applications of about 0.1 - 0.2 mL over the course of roughly 4 hours there was quite a strong euphoria and a bit of short term memory impairment occurred such that I could no longer keep score at snooker as one moment lost its connection with the next. I wonder if the distressed skin had increased absorption.

I was thoroughly satisfied with the initially unexpected central effects to the extent that I had no interest in smoking or vaping any herbal cannabis. IMO it's true about higher CBD levels being better. It feels like the anxiolytic effects have made their own contribution to the improvement of my skin condition. Now, how to get to the root of the psychological/emotional factors behind my long-term skin problems...?

I shall be getting some avo oil and seeing what other things work well with it, also hemp oil. And there's that pot of coconut oil sat in the cupboard - soon to follow will be news of my further exploits in search of the wholesome fun that can be had with culinary materials.

Chan, thanks for the tip on pre-bath dermal dosing. Considering how potent my oil appears to be, it could make for some interesting observations. And I would reckon that salvinorin will probably dissolve in some of these vegetable oils, too...

One must be careful not to slip over when negotiating an oily bathtub, of course!
