Second time trying to preform kash’s extraction method to a t. I resulted with a tan residue after the toluene evaporated. I know tan is a sign of oxidation, I’m just wondering how it could have oxidized before evaporation. (Not sure if thats even possible haha, could be tan for another reason that I am not aware of)
I followed all the steps very carefully, I did leave the solution overnight in between the naptha wash and the toluene step so i’m wondering if that was a mistake
I’m pretty sure there was no remaining naptha when I did the second wash however I am not 100% sure, and i’m wondering how to make sure of that if I try again, and if that could of caused the a problem
One more thing, I used 1 mil of ammonia to increase the ph but possibly the ph was a little too high I’m wondering if that could of caused a problem aswell
