Turkey baster problem

so swim has been using a glass turkey baster for her seperatins


however she. or her roommates rather have broken 2 of these damn things. and now she cannot find them at the store she was gettign them from

so she has 420 grams of lye bark mix waiting to be rolled but she does not have a way to seperate the naptha.


any ideas? whats a good substatute? any notable glass baster dealers???

k so i just checked with the hardwere peeps

they say they only get a shipment form those people bi guarterly

so that means they wont have any more till march



looks like shes stuck taking a new aproche here


i thick it was 69ron who sugggested using baby nasel aspiratiors

i saw those a few days ago but was wary as they are made of rubber and i did not know how that would react with napth

also they arnt all THAT long

so i dunno how far she could even get it in the jug

those are her only options seemingly

they all seem risky in there own way


i dont see her lose alot of naptha spillign it and or not being able to pour it just right

and dont want her to end up with plastic tainted crystals

well pour it off into a container you ARE NOT going to use for crystallization...and a container that is good for pouring...so you pour out of your gallon jug...and you will get some lye mix in there..but then just pour the naptha off of that..its not the best way but it works

so dose swim always pour ? and can it be done with relative ease

is it all that time cosuming to do that over and over and over?


i guess its just a diffrent dance
cus truthfull swim says the turkey baster is a pain in the ass

Same. For the LIFE of me, I can't pour it without getting the same amount of lye as I do naptha.

I'm also out of turkey basters too.

What I decided to do, was to take a HDPE baster, and, using a bit of chemical resistant tubing, attach a small glass eyedropper onto the end of it... Seems to work fine IMO.
 
just use a plastic baster. the naptha will degrade it over time but it should be fine i havent had probs with plastic but it seems if you go to the cheap ass stores they have the glass ones. i paid 15 bucks for my plastic one and found the glass one in the supermarket for 5. youll find one if you check out the right stores but there's no prob with plastic for short term.

i mean what used to take 10 min is taking an hour

swim is not happy about having to spend that much time infront of open naptha container

swim actualy did end up asking a freind about the nearest lab supply store

its not too far away

and she could probly obtain a quality glass pippette but

she sayed all that will wait till next time:d

but that would require switching to atb then would it not

as sludge is too chunky for most sep funnel
 
You can siphon off the naphtha with LDPE tubing. This is sold anywhere transparent PVC tubing is sold. LDPE is semi transparent and sort of rubbery.
 
i used a plastic turkey baster on my first extraction without trouble.

Do not use a syringe. I tried that to, the rubber at the end of the plunger gets messed up, comes off, sticks to the syringe, and the syringe cant be aspirated anymore.
