Whats up Nexus, long time lurker of the forum and i even had an account that oddly has not worked in a while but that's no biggie. I recently got to have a wonderful experience with 6" Achuma made into a tea and 2ml of a 100ml 500g b. caapi extract. Lets just say it was an eye opener and in retrospect, probably a little reckless.
The MAOI's were certainly dangerous, but i was inspired by dragon-n's ecstatic vision quest mescaline aya. Definitely should have tried this cacti un-enhanced before adding in the light. I only kept the brew down for 35 min, but it must have been enough, cant really imagine what the trip would have been like if i kept it down. Nonetheless i enjoyed myself for 10+ hours, and had what i would say were some of the best visuals i've ever had off any substance.
Done aya and Vaped FB a number of times too, i definitely had some intense visuals on aya before, but it was just that, too intense for me to handle and were usually bipolar good/bad trips. Nonetheless, i adjusted some variables and have a good method now of pharma that does the trick. I think the main thing is that Mescaline is a much more friendly and useful substance to me imho. Though Dmt definitely does has more to offer, i can almost feel the connection as with other entheogens i have done work with.
I therefore dehydrated approx. 26" of Auchma, saving a 4" cutting to root at a later time. I then proceeded to grind up the dehydrated slices of whole cactus.
At this point i need to decide which direction to go to get the alkaloids out of the plant matter. I've done a STB Torch tek before with limo, but did not know mesc. fb was soluble in water, and i used alot of water. I also did not do enough pulls/salting. But i did get a chunk of mesc. acetate that was active and produced a light trip. I also salted with some fumaric acid. I got a decent yeild, but it was heavily contaminated with excess fumaric acid. It produced a trip comparable to the mesc acetate trip, but slightly different and i did combine it with a low dose of harmalas.
Anyway, after reviewing ALL the available methods of getting those goodies in a more manageable form, i decided i would do either a acidifed tea, STB limo, or and i don't know if this has been proposed before, a STB ISO. The idea would be to use Annhydrous ISO on a dried CaOH/Cactus paste. All of these ideas were relatively understandable to me and seemed like good choices vs a tek where i would have to buy acids and bases. I already have limo, iso, caoh, citric acid, and fumaric acid.
Then, i thought maybe i would do a tea tek, then save and dehydrate the powder, STB, dry, pull with limo. Evap the tea to a resin, combine with mesc. fumarate & other pulled alks, and have a better chance of getting all the goodies. Just to clarify, i'm concerned only with dried cactus powder expanding in my insides. Other than that i would eat it whole if not it was soo much plant matter, i'm a firm believer of KISS because in practice it produces the strongest, maybe not the most comfortable or fast acting, but efficient extractions.
Now, this would still be a fun thing to try as is, but i decided to add yet another step and another solvent to pull any remaining alkaloids. A STB Iso step could not hurt, and would just require an additional drying after being pulled from. I would first do a tea tek with citric acid, simmer down to manageable amount, put it in a pyrex dish in my forced air dehydrator. Its basically a standard dehydrator with a small coil on the bottom, but has a fan and adjustable temp as well. Works like a champ for cacti, i assume it would be equally good for alkaloid laden water. Idea is reducing on the stove to resin is very risky to alkaloids and would rather take a lil more time at lower (115F) temps.
The next step would involve STB-ing with CaOH, then drying powder in pyrex dish in dehydrator to remove water so the iso stays dry. Next pull with ISO 2-3 times, take extra care decanting to avoid contamination with CaOH. Evap ISO with fan only, open windows, no heat.
The final step would be to dry out the powder, which should be easier than before since its just a lil ISO, and pull with limo. Then proceed with salting limo with FASW. Dehydrate salts in dehydrator.
Now, i should have three different products, one a FB resin, and two as salts. It would be advisable imo to combine these three to keep the full experience for this extraction. Don't want to get complicated and mess it up like i have countless times before. Its perfectly fine as-is. My goal would have been accomplished of reducing the amount of extraneous material ingested, while keeping the full experience as good as possible.
I'm pretty sure this is how i'm gonna be tekkin, but still have to tweak a few variables maybe.
Does the STB Limo step seem redundant and alot of extra effort? I.E. would the STB iso get everything that would get pulled by the limo?
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions in regard to using Fumaric acid as my tea acid?
-I see no issues with this, possibly a more heat stable salt or more water soluble. Possible even that you get different or more of the goodies. Then again, using citric acid would add more variability to the tek, by using another acid other than fumaric.
Also, anyone have alot of experience salting Mesc. & other cactus alks. out of limo? Any suggestions of tips? I feel like i learned after alot of trial and error with DMT fumarate, but methods can differ with different alkaloids and solvents. I assume it would not be okay to use FASI in this case, something about mesc. being soluble, maybe i'm wrong though.
