Vape juice turned to gel

Hello!

I've been creating vape juice for myself for a few years now, mixing freebase DMT and PG to do so.

I've recently made another such a mix, using 1g DMT with 1ml PG. This time, for whatever reason, the juice turns into a solid jelly-like substance at room temperature. Heating it slowly returns it to the amber liquid I expect, and it returns to jelly again pretty quickly. It remains liquid, but is viscous enough to not flow at all. When heating, it's clear that a runny liquid separates from the block of jelly as if thawing.

Any ideas? I use boiling water to heat DMT in a sealed vial, maybe water got in? I am using a new batch spice, which maybe contains different impurities - it looked pure enough that I didn't bother to Re-X. I also heated it a lot when stirring, I'm not sure if there's an upper threshold I hit.

I would love to understand what is happening and why.

If anyone knows how to pull DMT out of PG that could also be great.

Hi,
I don't know if heating to much you polymerized your spice or catalized some condensation reaction between PG and some impurities, without proper analysis it's difficult to guess.
Anyway, you can pull it no problem treating the gel like it is plant material. I would add water+citric acid or water + vinegar, heat gently to dissolve and upon cooling add lye solution, pull with your solvent of choice and freeze precipitate or backsalt or evaporate or whichever is your preferred technique to retrieve the spice.
But frankly I would just add between 300 and 350mg of citric acid to your gel, dissolve by gently heating and see if the citrate thus formed congeals or not. If not, vape away, if it turns a gel, proceed as I outlined above.

polymerized your spice

In my experience making e-juice with heavily polymerized DMT, there were no problems of this kind. It dissolved well, formed some very small needles after a while, and then those dissolved. It has remained clear and fluid for months, until today. This is of course just anecdotal evidence, it may not always be the case.

Yeah I too think that polymerization is not the issue here. Who knows what happened!
