Hello there, been lurking here for a while but first time posting.
Been very interested in bufotenin for a while and finally got round to doing an extraction but been having less than spectacular results. Been following the basic teks, here is exactly what I did. I would appreciate it if someone could elucidate what's going on! Here is the following process I did:
Ground 30g seeds in coffee grinder.
Mix with equal amounts calcium carbonate, add enough water to make a paste and leave an hour.
Dry in oven at 60 degrees celcius.
Place dried seed mixture in soxhlet for 3 hours with anhydrous acetone as solvent. Result is 300ml of very dark red/brown solution.
Added 1g citric acid/10ml acetone solution dropwise until percipitate stopped forming. White/yellow clouds percipitating out of the dark solution.
Resulting mixture was filterted through a buchner filter leaving behind dark brown goo.
Goo mixed with equal volume calcium carbonate and a few drops of water and left 30 minutes. Resulting mixture then dried in oven at 60 degrees celcius.
100ml of acetone added to the powder produced from drying, then the mixture is filtered. The acetone is evaporated leaving a dark brown powder. the poweder is scraped up producing 0.6g of dark brown, very glittery powder.
10mg of the powder was smoked with very little effect and a large ammount of residue.
A d-limone recrystalisation was performed on the powder resulting in some very dark left over material that behaved as a thermo setting plastic. Nothing percipitated out of the limonene although it did become cloudy. On evaporating a slight residue left over but nothing usable.
What could be going on? I was supprised by the darkness of the poweder produced, I was expecting more of a tan powder. For the first 20 minutes of the soxhlet extraction the solution running coming through it was extremely dark and thick but quickly got lighter and started flowing quicker.
Does anyone have any idea what all this dark material is?
Despite little psychadelic effects from the extract parts of the process were beautiful! When the acetone was evaporating the surface tension was bringing the acetone along with the extract up to the edge of the plate, then evaporating off making it too heavy and falling back down creating the most beautiful patterns! Also when scraping the brown stuff off the plate the air filled with sparkling glitter/crystals! Wonderful!
