Washing solvent

Migrated topic.

Ok, did my second extraction using Cyb's salt tek. Followed to the letter, seemed to work fine, got 1%, but the bark supplier was questionable, (maybe trunk bark?) so I think I did ok. In a previous attempt, (joshisom's tek) there was a step to evap the solvent before the freeze precip. In Cyb's, I didn't see one. When I poured off the solvent form the frozen trays, there was quite a bit of yellow solvent left, including some "cloudy" material floating in it. I understand it's possible to "wash" the solvent with water, but I can't find any instructions for that. Is there still DMT in the solvent, or is it just fats or something? If I want to re-use it, I should clean it, right?

Thanks. I guess the point was that it's ok to use the solvent, nobody really knows how much of a hindrance the dissolved material will be?

Yeah, some people claim to have reused solvents 5 times or more with no issue. The only solvent(s) I've ever reused were limonene and heptane and I never had any trouble. You can wash your solvent a couple of times with water by mixing them together and then removing the water layer. In a similar manner, you can also do acidic washes. Lastly, you could also do a sodium carbonate wash (found in the FAQ) if you feel the need.

But again, you can probably just reuse it and be fine. Best of luck
