Alternative to Recrystallization: No NP Solvent Needed

In this thread ^ it states that you can get dmt freebase by adding a solution of NaOH to vinegar with dmt dissolved in it. I can't find any other thread other than this one on the topic. I'm very interested in the idea of water crystallized dmt. Does anyone have any experience with this? And does it work well?

Destinyawaits,

Something white/ yellowish and fluffy came crashing to the bottom. The solution itself is clear now so I don't think anything else is going to come out. I'll re-basify the liquid after I've decanted it to see if that does anything.

Very cool twofourtwo. If re-basifying doesn't do anything, try pulling again with nps, salt with a minimal amount of vinegar without diluting and then add an NaOH solution, and see if that helps. I think DreaMTripper is right, you might have used too much water.

I wonder what the powdery stuff is, I hope there is some dmt in there. It doesn't stick to the glass as Dreamtripper mentions.

What was the material you extracted from and how much did you use? I know mixing sodium hydroxide in vinegar creates sodium acetate, but i'm sure that it just stays dissolved in the water. There's got to be dmt in there. If using acacia confusa it's possible the nmt precipitated with it.

Sodium tartrate will be completely dissolved yes so its quite possible what you have is very fine particles of powdery wet dmt.
Maybe try decanting the liquid off let the powder dry in a dish hard then put the dish on a slant and dropper cold basic or distilled water on it to wash away the lye.
I do love this method it really rewards patience and must yield the cleanest crispest end product.

twofourtwo, anything significant happening yet?

I'm afraid I forgot about this thread when my recrystallization failed & other stuff consumed my attention... sorry about that.

As I said, it didn't work out, probably there wasn't much DMT in there to begin with. The stuff that came crashing out was brownish and reeked mostly of sunflower oil. There was only so much that it fitted on the edge of a razor blade. After washing nothing was left and that was that.

Still I'd like to thank the op for pointing towards this method. I might try again with a proper, not so clumsy sunflower oil extraction :)

"At some point the solution will
become saturated with salt. This happens for
salt in water at -21.1°C, which therefore is the
coldest a saturated solution of salt and water
can get. At that temperature, the salt begins
to crystallize out of solution, along with the
ice, until the solution completely freezes."

Going by this would it be possible to enable accelerated dmt water precipitation above this temperature in a slightly basic salty almost saturated solution?
Say for the ideas sake -15 if you could adjust the freezers temperature that accurately..

You could then use dlimo to extract initially, fumurate or tartaric to salt out and rebase with sodium carbonate add enough salt so its just less than enough to saturate at -21° C and leave in the freezer overnight.

Me again :)
Im curious as to whether you can use this method to precipitate full spectrum freebase from fumurates or is it only dmt?
Im thinking full spectrum may just turn to a floaty goo..or would it separate in solution and precipitate..
