What career do you have?

Hi, I have 30 years and I can happily say that I have not career since I have it seems unnecessary. Expenses out of tattooing and textile screen printing. From time to time I get graphic design work.
Study several years some programming in Microsoft career. (all the lessons and exams was taken online) Have a job for 10 months and did not came back to do. That's most for my father insitence, He was in developing software all his life.

I´m very happy this way. So much free time and calm. Maybe some times a little short of money but who cares?

Just like me! I honestly am broke all the time but my freedom is worth more than the average wage, it has given me all the time to think, create, learn, express and enjoy myself. In the UK its sunny all this week, everyone is out working whilst I was drawing in the park!

Money is nothing if you can not smile with an abundance of it.

I am multi skilled as well, I learn things quickly and get bored quickly. From iPhone repairs, cctv installation, car radio and sub boxes, painting and decorating, computers, websites, design, the thing is, I am not a master of any of them but I can do a flipping amazing job being the perfectionist that I am.

Started working farms and fixing engines when I was bout 10.
did that for a bit.
Liked working with plants better, so I did that for awhile.
Small nurseries, vegetable farms, estates, ran my own greenhouse operation for a bit, was fun.

got tired of working really hard for little monetary gain so went back to fixing engines.

currently working as a marine engineer living aboard boats for 8-9 months a year keeping the engines and systems working. as a benefit I get to take part in some really neat and some historic projects. As a side benefit, I get to see a lot of different places, and do different types of jobs over the course of time. It suits my lifestyle very well.

Spread your wings cosmic butterfly! Many people submit to fear rather than courageously follow their dreams. I understand though, I get what is scary about the unknown but in time, the unknown is like a bit marshmallow full of love!

I work as a registered nurse in an ICU for postop heart and lung surgery patients.

Some days its an awesome rush, others its boring as hell. Some days are rewarding (saving lives/making a good death), others are ridiculously disgusting (Just had a patient vomit feces, lots of feces, 5" from my face while I was doing CPR).

I often dream of less stressful ways of making ends meet.... an old high school friend now lives in Maui, surfs all day and bartends all night. I envy this guy like soooo much.

Before nursing, went to art school for painting/glass blowing/bronze casting. I do this for shits and giggles now... much less stress than trying to make a living from it.


I agree with many posters above... your job does not define you at all. I was curious to see what others that are attracted to DMT and this forum do for a living. Pretty large variety, which is nice to see.

Some of you seem to know each other... it is interesting to imagine what you are all like in person.

i work on high voltage power lines, make a large amount of money... and hate it.. I used to love making all that money but now i see it as counter productive to my being. Ive been racking my brains trying to find something else that would help me live a better quality of life. Im just so scared of being broke, i feel like its too overwhelming, even though that's truly what i want in life. just scared i guess.

I'm definitely forgetting something and there are some jobs I don't know the english word for.

I've had countless jobs. Been many times in many places doing some of the jobs on that list. Probably spent most time working on industrial machinery. Mostly heavy industry. But haven't done much of that for almost a decade now.

Last years I've been mostly around filmmaking. Was on set today for a short movie. And Thursday I'm going to be an actor in a commercial documentary about a ship that sank in the North Atlantic ocean 1986 where only 5 crewmembers of 11 survived. I'm supposed to be one of the guy's that lost their lives there.

And I'm studying filmmaking now. Have one year left. I'll do that for some time but there are more things I want to do in life

I've never really had a career I'm 36 now and I will never choose one career in life. I need to do different things.

I'm an aircraft mechanic, have been for almost 6 years (I'm only 23) and have already worked my way to damn near the top. I've run 3 different shops already and have been offered to be given my own shop, all expenses paid, plus an equal partnership in a company 3 times (by as many different people) sence January... Unfortunetly while I am very good at what I do, I got into it trying to take the easiest most profitable route available to me, and can't say it's exactly a passion... My current plan is to buy a sailboat and travel the world trying to decide what I actually want to do with my life.

Another ICU nurse here, but I'm in medical/surgical ICU. We see everything from snakebites and OD's (had a few bath salt and 'spice'/synthabinoid OD's over the last year or so) to the more mundane heart attack/stroke and post-op patients and everything in between. Lots of end-of-life issues, too. Interesting, fulfilling work in my perspective, even if some days I'm up to my elbows in poo or have somebody die in front of me vomiting blood.

I'm a former teacher turned guidance counselor turned principal (what a huge mistake that was) and before that held a dozen or so other jobs...mortgage broker, car parts, plant nursery worker, etc.

Mostly I'm really a seeker and a restless soul that likes experiencing different facets of life. I've found nursing suits me very well because it encompassses many levels of reality- from the biochemical up through the physiological, psychological, social and spiritual. The only other field of endeavor that covers that much territory that I'm aware of is psychedelics/entheogens.

Guess that's why I like 'em both!

I make a modest living as a freelance musician (guitarist) backing up singers, etc, and I also teach guitar. It's a great way to make a living and be in charge of my own life with no one to tell me what to do. The drawbacks are inconsistent money from week to week so I have been learning to budget better but I still manage to pay the bills/rent.

I spent the better part of my 20's (I'm 31 now) chasing the rock'n'roll dream but had a real love/hate relationship with touring... one tour would be the greatest experience you could imagine then the next tour would be lack of sleep and cranky fatigue.

I now view success in music as being creative within different musical projects with my closest friends and not chasing someone else's ideas of rock stardom, I've been the happiest in the last year or so creatively in a long time.

Work and money at the moment is slow because I am transitioning into running my own band instead of playing for someone else, kinda stressful but really exciting too, it's where my heart is telling me to go.

I would ultimately love to make a living purely being creative in my own studio space but I still feel really lucky to pay the bills doing what I do already

I don't have a career, I've been some years at uni, I don't even have an interest in daily life, lol. I love people, nature, things, activities... But I just can't work in a job that doesn't do anything positive for humanity, and those jobs are already taken by wonderful people, and I'm not upset by that fact. Humanity is doing just fine and I don't need to work a 9-5. In fact I believe that, in the (near) future, most people won't need to work, and I believe that should be our goal, not something that's seen as something bad! Isn't the point of technology that everyone should be unemployed and instead pursue their interests? I am and I'm loving it! I think people are afraid of unemployment as a serious lifestyle because they might not like the social consequences, the lack of a lot of money, or the fact that they don't want to confront themselves and find out whether they really love life, or work just to pass the time without having to think about things.

I've seen and listened to a lot of Peter Joseph and Zeitgeist, and I agree with him. I'm not a lazy bum, in fact I'm extremely active in the thinking department - I work on myself all the time. But in the eyes of contemporary society, I'm a worthless loser because I don't want to fit the mold. I accept their emotional gut reaction, so whatever, let the hate flow - and if this kind of attitude upsets you, I can take it

The greatest career one can have is the one they love to do, how can you know what you love to do if you have no idea who you are?

Time, silence, spiritual pain and boredom will all lead to this path of self discovery.

Peace and love, there are quite a few wanders in here but as Mr Tolle says, not all wanderers are lost.
