what has happened/goo (pictures)

hey guys , so afoaf got intouch today and said this :

"i did my first extraction last night, i left the solvent infront of a fan for a few hours to evaporate, in these few hours a the whole jar more or less turned to a goo, i then put it in the freezer overnight and went to check this morning, only to find it was even more goo ! i couldn't see any crystals. I thought maybe my freezer is not cold enough , but it is as cold as i can get it so i can't change that, what do you think is happening and what should i do next? i have sent links to some pictures so you have a better understanding of what i am dealing with, thanks in advance for the help ! "

1. what is it meant to be?
2. what are you extracting it from?
3. what tek did you use?

hey man, my foaf said

not even sure what the tek was , he boiled MHRB in HCL 45 mins at 60 degrees 3 times, defatted 3 times, added sodium hydroxide to ph 12-13 , added solvent used pippett to get solvent out 3 times, then evap for few hours then freeze, now at this stage....it is supposed to be DMT...."supposed" lol

my foaf just got out of freezer to seperate the solvent from the blacky remaining base at the bottom , he put pippette in to find out the jar had 3 layers, the bottom (blacky plant base) in the middle was crystals, wich were covered on the top layer by clear solvent

ok my foaf just seperated with a coffee filter, he now has a jar of clear solvent nothing else , and a jar of black/brown ice wich just melts into liquid..... looks like he failed terribly :\

I'm not sure what has happened in your pic, I've never seen goo like that before, but don't throw anything away, the DMT is still in there some where.

when you poured the solvent through the filter did the crystal layer stay in the jar?

hey man , the solvent came through and at the bottom of the jar was just a brown/black block of ice :\ i have kept this and put it back in the freezer so it doesnt melt im guessing this is where the DMT is. maybe if i mix this with some more solvent and let it melt into the solvent , i may of left some base mix in there so it should then seperate and i can pippete it out , then try the evap freeze process again :\ ? sad times

I would certainly add the goo to a new jar, warm it up and then add some warm naphtha to remove any goodies that are in the goo.

could you explain what to do from here step my step please mate for a nooby

current situation:

jar 1 is in freezer with couple chunks of black/brown ice in
jar 2 is in room with about 300ml of clear solvent

also when you say warm solvent do you mean warm as in 50 degrees ?

also if i let the ice melt on it's own there will literally only be a couple ml in the jar, im guessing i have wasted all the magic somehow ?

no worries mate,

1. I would take the jar of solvent and stick a fan on it until the solvent starts to go cloudy, this means its saturated with DMT and it will make freeze precip easier. Once it starts to cloud put the lid on and stick it in the freezer for a couple of days.

2. Defrost the goo, you could do this on a heat bath to speed things up, when the goo is unfrozen add 50ml of warm/hot naphtha and mix well and allow to separate x3. repeat this a couple of times. You can heat the naphtha in a heat bath, I use water that is just below boiling.

once you have separated the fresh solvent from the goo and placed it in a new container you can put a fan on it until it clouds and then put it in the freezer for a day or so.

Don't worry, if you haven't thrown anything away you have not lost the goodies, you just gotta find them

thanks mate really appreciate the help, ok so i have my jar of solvent now in front of a fan , but it is literally as clear as clear can be do you think the DMT is in here or in the black ice ?

when the goo separates from the naptha and i pipette them to separate seperate jars, wich one will i be keeping ?

also once i have the goo unfrozen and seperated do i then add this to my original 300ml of solvent ?

im not sure where your DMT is but if it is in the solvent it will go cloudy when it begins to reach saturation point, so give it a while and you will find out if its in there or not

you should keep the solvent that you pull off the goo, you are trying to pull the goodies out of the goo and into the solvent. eventually you will throw the goo away but only when your sure it has nothing left in it

once the goo is unfrozen you pull it with fresh naphtha to try to remove the goodies that might be trapped in the goo

and the 300ml of solvent from the very start when taken out of freezer, should i put these together or freeze in seperate jars?

I would keep them separate then you will now where the DMT was hiding and it might help you out in the future.

now chop chop, this sun wont last forever and vaping in the sunshine is a delight.

where is the ice coming from?

from the naptha but the naptha is bubbly and crsytaly , when i seperate , the naptha goes to the top in seperate jar and the crystally stuff to the bottom , but its this crystally stuff wich turned to ice :\ i am on welcome chat if easier mate

basically the naptha is getting these crystals and brown bubbles and colour to it , the naptha isn't staying clear :\ the very top it , but near the bottom where these crystals are isnt
