In my eyes, reality is the material world.
Including all that knows "existance".
We humans can grasp into the non-material world, or the non-existant (unknown information) with our thoughts.

But it certainly is not always easy to be able to separate the 2 from each other.
Like I "think" nobody likes me until i have to show off what I'm worth to them (tho this is wrong and im trying to fix it). And like this everyone else has a perception of reality which is what they learned over time.

So , reality is a combination of what you have learned as reality over the years, and the actual soup of "matter" you are swimming in at this moment. Not?

Um reality is the byproduct of ones consciousness, and for that reason and that reason alone, reality is unique to each individual life. I mean, think about it, the reality you endure is in many ways unlike the reality of someone living on the other side of the world, but in some ways it is the same. Reality though, to a fish, is completely unlike the reality of a human, though in some ways again they are the same... Imagine what the reality of a plant must be like? I believe that every aspect of consciousness generates a unique version of their own reality, and this physical world we are all a part of and share is the accumulation of all these things coming together.

An individual's idea of 'reality' is, in my opinion, where they draw the line between what they know to be 'real' and what they presume COULD or COULD NOT be 'real'

'Reality' is a word to define the semi-illusory manifestation of our inner and outer perceptions... 'Reality' is what we make for ourselves in life and is constantly growing and changing as we experience life both on an individual level and as a collective.

just my 2 cents, for now anyway :P

"The basic premise of sorcery for a sorcerer is that the world of everyday life is not real, or out there, as we believe it is. For a sorcerer, reality, or the world we all know, is only a description.
For the sake of validating this premise I will concentrate the best of my efforts into leading you into a genuine conviction that what you hold in mind as the world at hand is merely a description of the world; a description that has been pounded into you from the moment you were born.
Everyone who comes into contact with a child is a teacher who incessantly describes the world to him, until the moment when the child is capable of perceiving the world as it is described. We have no memory of that portentous moment, simply because none of us could possibly have had any point of reference to compare it to anything else. From that moment on, however, the child is a member . He knows the description of the world; and his membership becomes full-fledged, perhaps, when he is capable of making all the proper perceptual interpretations which, by conforming to that description, validate it.
The reality of our day-to-day life, then, consists of an endless flow of perceptual interpretations which we, the individuals who share a specific membership, have learned to make in common."

At 6'20" in the video there's some spinning cogs that look awfully familiar.

and how does Joe Rogan still have work?

And why is "Fear Factor" coming back?

Reality is defined by a collection of somewhat arbitrary criteria. If an experience satisfies the reality-test criteria, then we call the experience real. If it doesn’t we call it something else.

We know consciousness is real. We know that conscious experience is real. Beyond that, we can’t say for certain if anything is real.

Joe Rogan is not that bad, honestly. At least he speaks up about something he believes in instead of hiding it and bending over for the media.

My reality is not your reality, at least on a subjective level..enough said.

Everything is YOU, "reality" included...we as humans have such a structure of logic and edges, to to speak, its difficult to imagine anything other...Everything is ONE, creating for itself a vista of opportunity for lessons. The human existence is a dream, and a beautiful one at that. Details strip it of its pure beauty, one that can only be realized on an individual level...Complexity is a thought, one to create challenge in knowledge during the experience of 3rd dimensional Life.. When we speak of reality, we can go on forever and ever...hence, the beauty of creation...a distraction from the Truth.

Love.

Ok just kidding.

Reality to me is... a kind of... virtual reality.

I think I have to leave now.

it's independent of how you look at it

if you like to think of yourself as a pulsar in space, then cool; but we both know
you're not. I like to think I'm a mailbox, but I know I'm not. that's reality.

Actually, observable reality has been shown (scientifically at least) to change depending on the method or instrument you use to view it with. Therefore we are never independant of 'reality', we are affecting it constantly in such subtle ways we are barely aware of. But that is the Great Work then, isn't it? To become more conscious of that which can affect our 'reality' :p

I think Robert Anton Wilson puts it very beautifully and with less cussing than Joe Rogan ;)

Quite a claim there benzyme, you sound so sure of yourself.

My experiences show me that at some fundamental level, we are all one, all made out of the same fundamental energy/life force. Even mailboxes! :) The illusion of duality seems to exists only while we are in our egos. Yours seems especially inflated with a claim like that.

You’re confusing two concepts – reality and truth. They are not the same thing.

For example, it’s true that the fictional character “Homer Simpson” works at a nuclear power plant and it’s true that the power plant is located in “Springfield”, but Homer Simpson is a not real human being, the city where he lives does not exist as a real place, and the power plant where he works is not real.

Truth and reality are not the same. D'oh!
