What is this "Breakthrough"

It's beyond that. You'll see.
Language can't describe it. Sub-breakthrough doses cannot hint at it. There is no experience that can be analogous or remotely similar to it. I guess the idea of death is appropriate because none of us has any knowledge of the other side. All we can do is imagine it and our imaginations are not designed to go to that place. It is an infinite sided dice and it'll show you whatever it wants and blow any preconceived notions of possibility and reality.
it is death. it is birth. it is complete dissolution of self into an everything that ripples out in waves like the pulse of a cosmic heart. it is the dreams of an embryo. a hint of what is beyond and yet has already been. it is eternal expansion. a dragon, an elf, a mirror inside and outside of your self. it is the embrace of god going through you, in you, around you, becoming you and rebuilding you.
it is a complete exchange of atoms in one instant. a new self, a new mind, a new moment. it is the world being born anew within your soul and your soul being born anew within the world.
it is the YOU you have always dreamed of knowing...

its really hard to get with language. Sometimes the worm feels dead but its happy. More than the phsyical/measurable world can be perceived with CRYSTAL clarity and sharpness. Everythings connected and love. So much energy. Some of the most beautiful things this worm has ever dreamed of seeing. Its different every time. Its worth checking out.

I always wondered what it was until I had it. Its the most loving thing you could ever NOT imagine. A term like 'Euphoria' doesn't even begin to describe it.

As the others have said anyone who has had a breakthru knows it was a breakthru. You can literally feel your mind being pulled to the other side which is why I think they call it a breakthru because of the feeling of breaking pass a threshold.
A death experience is one aspect of a breakthru, truth and love and understanding is another.
I haven't had a breakthru in a good few journeys, just sub ones. They are still very enjoyable but doesn't come close to a real breakthru.

"I think I have come up with an apt analogy for my first breakthrough, if indeed it was one (trip report in nursery "first steps"Wink:
Imagine the utter terror experienced by a newborn: jettisoned from the womb, umbilical cord clipped, drawing in its first gulp of air and opening its eyes to the hostile light of the world for the first time; oxygen flooding virgin lungs, a whole cardiopulmonary system shocked into action, those little orbs set in a tiny skull that have never seen more than the dim red glow of placenta being opened to a universe of reflection and refraction, shards of light bounding around in a seeming assault, a barrage of alien colour and intensity; and the sounds - never such cacophony, billowing around the small cartilaginous shells that heretofore have heard no more than the dull distant thud of their mother's heart, now subjected to screeching frequencies unimaginable...
I have to think of my experience as a birth for it to make sense. Something that will soften to some level of comprehension, or at the very least diminished violence, in subsequent trips, like the newborn slowly adapting to a novel, strange reality...
And the consequent death of my old self, the precious illusion (if it indeed be one) of my old mind, the shedding, the passing on, the evolving... For every birth requires a death, and every demise, a blossom.
I hope that strikes a cord with someone.
