What is this?

The process of alchemy was traditionally internal as well as external. As I perform my entheogenic extracts I find myself changing. I am much more knowledgeable, focused, efficient, organized, methodical and productive than when I began three months ago. It seems to take me three tries to successfully perform any extract but I have persisted and been rewarded for my efforts.

Which is all a big excuse for this big Duh!

Today I opened my cupboard to find a flask to use and found one with mystery crystals (I think they're crystals) on the bottom. This has to be either LSA, mescaline or DMT. Can anyone tell me what these crystals are? (The solution is odorless and has a pH of about 12, which would rule out LSA)

???? No way of knowing unless you know what you extracted. If you extracted mimosa, it can't be mesc. If you extracted cactus, it can't be dmt. So what did you start with?

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear in my original post. Recently I've done an LSA extraction with morning glory seeds using naphtha and ethanol; a DMT extraction using MHRB, naphtha and NaOH; and a mescaline extraction using San Pedro, xylene and NaOH. I don't know which of the three extractions this jar comes from.

It isn't heroin because I haven't used any opiates for extraction.

SWIM's voting for mescaline as it doesn't have much of a smell, so it can't be DMT. Anybody want to come over and test it? :twisted:

I think hacxor helped SWIM figure it out. SWIM's brains a little foggy today cause she's been doing a little too much testing :shock:

It doesn't smell like DMT but, on the other hand, if it was from a mesc extraction it wouldn't crystalize at such a high pH (SWIM thinks). Mesc crystals have to be salted out with an acid solution. The free base form of mescaline looks like tar

OK, so it must be DMT. Holy sheit! Nice little Christmas present!

I've never seen a DMT crystal form in that manner. What type of acid was used for the extraction? If it was DMT, great job! It's ice clear (another reason I doubt it's DMT). Looks more like square sugar crystals, but imposible to tell from those pics. Taste it, does it have the alkaloid bitterness?

The reason I posted the photo is to show that the basic (pH 12) solution can't have mescaline crystals because a) freebase mescaline looks like black tar and b) if SWIM converted the mescaline free base to a salt, the pH should be close to neutral (7).

The crystals were still covered with a somewhat viscous liquid that was extremely alkaline and SWIM didn't think that would be safe to taste. DMT freebase is safe but only after you've evaporated the naphtha.

Actually SWIM doesn't think it's a good idea to taste naphtha, xylene, or ANY nonpolar solution, especially with a ph of 12!

SWIM performed several different extractions over a few months. Three mesc, three DMT and two LSA. This jar could theoretically been left over from any of the eight extractions.

Somebody PLEASE humor me and tell me you understand?

The DMT SWIM smoked wasn't from the crystals in the pics above. SWIM removed the filter from her Büchner funnel and placed it in a container to evaporate. The stuff left in the funnel turned yellow, which made SWIM sure it was DMT. This is what SWIM smoked:

SWIM put most of the crystals in heated up naphtha and tried to dissolve them. The idea is to add the supersaturated solution drop by drop to the already formed crystals to form super-sized crystals but the ones left on the filter still haven't fully evaporated

I guess the jury's still out on this one but I'll let you know how things work out.

Like I said, the jury's still out...

I cleaned out my VG, put in some fresh herb and another small sample of the Mystery Crystal and... nothing. My previous "false positive" was due to there being leftover spice in the bowl.

So I've eliminated LSA and DMT... what's left is mesc. As I mentioned, the solution was highly alkaline, so I mixed in some acid water, mixed it up, and got a weird reading on my pH paper. I waited a day, and the same thing happened

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? At first I thought that (alkaline) crystals in the solution were causing the uneven pH spikes, but after sitting for a day :?:

I put the mystery crystals solution into a baking dish and allowed it to evaporate. The next morning there were WAY too many crystals to be the product of any of my extractions so I threw them out.
