Which side to put Spice on *Images Included*

I have my *Machine* ready but i can't seem to get which side to sprinkle spice on. On the bottom i would assume it would fall off. So do i sprinkle on top of the copper wool then put the wool inside the machine.

Which green arrow, Top or bottom. Inside bottle or Outside?

from outside and melt it a little, not burn, he/she melt down the copper or steel wool...then you fire it with not too much fire/flame and hit....but i don't seee an hole in thr bottom of the bottle...you have to do it...maybe i don't see well but without an hole in the bottom you can't hit the vapours.
