OK I went into my closet and cleaned it out. The project had to be shut down. My straw ball was still hanging around, so I unwrapped it and picked from it the many boomers which had grown in the meantime. Currently it is outside and sitting in a humidity fruiting chamber. It has since grown several more boomers which turned out to be a surprise.
