Will this method of purifying yellow chrystals work?

Wrap up yellow dmt in a coffee filter, wrap it into a ball. Put ball in a funnel. Pour saturated sodium carbonate in water through the funnel.

The theory is that the yellow will be pulled out by the basic Na carb + water while leaving the dmt behind white as a ghost.

Is this good?

It seems possible but I'm not sure it would work. The yellows are mainly caused by oils and plant fats. These yellows are not very soluable in water. The sodium carbonate water would probably remove any residual lye.

Oh.. in that case, how would one get the yellow out?

I guess they could salt the DMT, filter, collect DMT salt, freebase, and wash, but that is a lot of effort to get the yellow out.. any simpler way?

You can do a simple recrystallization and then a freeze precipitation. The more times you do the recrystallizations and freeze precipitations, the whiter it will become. It usually only takes one recrystallization and freeze precipitation to get the yellows out.
