witch is the best layers mixing tek?

this could be a poll imo,question is:whitch is most effective tecnique to mix polar-non polar layer to extract the spice? jar rolling,turn upside down,hand centrifuge,shaking,bubbling in it.. lol imo rolling the jar wouldn't extract well couse liquids are practically stand still and do not mix.:?

Magnetic stirrer would be the best. Without that, I think I would go for a big spoon to stir it manually. But PLEASE wear gloves and goggles, because if one isnt careful there can be some spilling.

Shaking can lead to emulsion, not recommended (even though emulsions can be resolved, its still better to avoid).

In any case, I wouldnt suppose it will make too much difference in terms of yield your method of mixing (unless one compares some very bad fast mix to a thorough long mix). In any case I would say the ideal is to make more than once cycle of good mixing before pulling.

yeah swim has one magnetic stirrer and he thinks it would the best toy to use..the problem is that it would works for 500 ml but not more becouse the magnetic anchor will start dancing without swirl the solution, so if swim has about 3 liters he will need to do the process maybe six times with six different jars

I've taken to using a crap load of lye before adding the solvent, then shaking the life out of it. I never do more than 3 pulls, even with a cactus A/B.

ok,lye overdosing and hell shaking wouldn't create any difficult emulsion,btw..emulsion would be a problem but i think you could suck it too with your solvent and than wash it by shaking with some solvey?huh?

yeah using loads of lye and shaking is an option. If lye is hard to find, watched or expensive where you live, you will have to measure if advantages outweigh disadvantages. Note that at times emulsion might still form even with plenty of lye, though probability is much smaller and if it does form it has the tendency to resolve faster (and even if not, you can still use other tricks like vibration salt and warm bath to settle it, or as you said washing too..).

Personally though I like to avoid shaking anyways.

BTW soulfood, you say you never do more than 3 pulls, but did you try doing more to see if there are more alkaloids coming off?

Not the case though, they mix just fine.

I do the mixing in my seperatory funnel, by swirling & gently turning end over end for about 5 minutes, 3 times.

I tend to get 1-1.2% yields of pure clear-to-white crystals.
Done this probably 10 times in the past 3-4 years.
So I think it's working perfectly.

SWIM has found that sucking up solvent in her turkey baster and shooting it into solution several times works very well. Naptha usually separates with no issues.... Xylene on the other hand takes a bit longer.
