Hi,

Total N00by here i admit. What is this site's attitude towards women? ive only met one in chat and things seemed okay there, but things have been strange and disrespectful int here. When i ask the chat people to define respect they give funny ha ha hanswers. Then today i find an intro post that says some dudes interest includes bitches! a serious introduction - - Introduction Essay - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus

i aint looking for a date but would like to see some more women. i know women in reality who smoke spice and take aya. They do exist. Should i tell them about this place or tell them to just stay away?

With regards to the above thread that you are talking about, that member still hasn't replied to his thread so who knows what exactly he meant. Yes he is out of line to talk like that and show such dissrespect towards women.
Did you notice that he didn't get any "warm" welcomes.

People with that kind of attitude either change very quikly or they don't frequent here often enough to have any impact on this forum.

In my experience it seems there are more men are willing to go deep with psychedelics than women. This could just be some weird imbalance in my experience, but that's how it stands so far. The Nexus just seems to reflect that. Are there forums out there with more ladies than menfolk...?

The ratio of males to females on the nexus doesn't seem to reflect my experiences, I have met a lot of girls who explore and use psychedelics/entheogens. But then again I have a lot of female acquaintances in the psychedelic/alternate scene so maybe its just my social circle as opposed to any demographic indication.
 
I'm new to this community and in no way want to knock it. I know we have something very special here. 90-95% of the time I feel welcome, but some of the time I do feel it could be more "female friendly" in here. I'm traditional in the respect that I don't think men and women should be treated the same, I think women should be treated gently and with extra respect-- mainly because most of us just don't have the strength/stamina to stand up to aggressive male behaviors. If there could perhaps be a bit more gentlemanly behavior with regards to females here, and respect for our differences, I know it would make me feel more comfortable.

Generally, what I'm asking for is an extra bit of politeness and good manners that maybe you men feel it is okay to forgo when talking amongst yourself.

I think it would be a good thing if this was a more gender equal community, because it is always generally just difficult for someone to be so outnumbered. I think it has the effect of putting more pressure, or more of a spotlight, on the individual, if you will.
 
In my experience this forum and chat is 99.5% awesome with the .5% being yahoo's who want to cause trouble with both sexes. The .5% is normally weeded out, banned or plain ignored. I have never seen any sexist comments nor have I felt uncomfortable by anything anyone has typed. If you are worried about being treated differently because of your gender-why tell anyone your sex at all? I get confused with being a man all the time and it does not bother me one bit. Sex should hold little water in an online community because we are all just text on a screen anyway.

I have to disagree that women need to be treated differently than men. Biologically, the only difference between the sexes is a single chromosome. Women are the eternal lifeblood of creation and on many levels are just as strong if not stronger than males in certain regards. Both sexes need to work together to build relationships, partnerships in life and casual conversation-nether party should be expecting special treatment from the other.

Men and women belong to essentially different spiritual systems, and we will never bridge the gap between us, as long as we try to do it only at the level of this world. This can be very frustrating since we keep trying. To unite, we must unite our roots, beyond any difference in thinking, feeling or physical appearance. When we work together, we build a connection at an entirely different level - beyond a spiritual level. We can transcend the mundane conflicts and differences, since we have a higher goal. When a man and a woman bond for the purpose of attaining a higher goal, they create a spiritual vessel between them, which doesn't exist in reality. This vessel is neither feminine nor masculine, but a new vessel, in which they receive the sublime abundance - eternal and complete.

That being said we are all at different stages of germination in this "reality", some have already sprouted leaves and are well on their way to greatness, some are already all they will ever be, but some are still just a seed waiting to sprout. We all deserve love, compassion and respect and those who are the .5% "problem" need it the most.
 
One thing I like about forums is that it doesn't occur to me, that who I am reading is either male or female and once put to font, it's all just information.

All that aside, as we like to talk about ourselves here and I'm no longer subject to ignorance on the matter, there are certainly female entities among us, past and present that I find to be very inspiring.
 
I think men and women are different in some big ways..but those difference compliment each other. Because of that I think that you can recognise the differences and still retain gender equality.
 
I cant believe this is still an issue for some people. I honestly never understood what all the fuss was about.

Yes, this is the point I was trying to make. Like I said, just being polite and having good manners is all that is really required in order to value the differences. If we can encourage that more, I believe it will help EVERYONE feel more welcome here.

I don't expect my beliefs to align with any form of feminism at all, either. They have mostly been formed from me living alone and taking psychedelics since I was 16, and having an introspective personality. I also don't think the answer is to erase the differences between the genders, either.
 
I think the thing is, jungleheart, that unless you go on record declaring your gender, no one really knows. Your avatar doesn't give much of a hint, and you don't specify on your profile. Now that I know, I'll probably engage you somewhat differently than if I thought you were a man - and not in any overt kind of way - but in the manner I think you're referring to.

Personally, I would love to see more of a gender balance here. Men tend to let their hair down in an environment populated mostly by men - and it's no secret that we can be idiots when adrift in a sea of testosterone. As for the guy with the bitches comment, that's just dumb and really not in line with the general attitude of the community. I think overall we tend to be a gender respectful bunch.

That's right. You may consider me sexist, but that is just a reflection of established evolutionary gender roles. Women are supposed to be more cautious and psychedeic experience is a major ADVENTURE. Their caution is good for the species survival. Those on the forum are outside of 90% or so of the standard Gaussian probability distribution curve:lol: .
