Re-acidify w/ warm vinegar
Filter again
Add super saturated salt solution (manske)

Dry out or re-basify for freebase alkaloids

Yield:

I think if I had done better filtering at the beginning, it would of saved me alot of hassle.

Just mixed up some real changa.

1g dmt
.33g mixed harmal freebase
1.25g peppermint leaf
.75g pau' de arco

I'll bioessay late tonight or for new years eve.

Nice, i like your tek, and i bet you got some nice hcl xtals from it. I find that freebasing and redissolving before doing the manske really helps out in getting you a more pure product with less junk in it. Last time i did this with rue (Tao or Rue tek) i got some really nice hcl xtayls, that were really chunky when i mansked them.

IMO its the only way to do a manske, you get a much purer product, and you really only have to do one or two manskes tops with the freebasing step before you do the mankse.

In your opinion would basifying with lime work just as well?

I'm not sure, possibly not though, as you would need several grams depending on how much acid you used when brewing, and caoh is not that water soluble at all. Would probably end up with caoh in your freebase. Sodium carbonate would work fine i imagine though, I've only used koh, but people say sodium carbonate or possibly potassium carbonate (from hardwood ashes) would work.

or NaOH...
There is no issue with naoh in the product if you convert the freebase with HCl, since any possible excess of NaOH is neutralized by HCl producing NaCl + H20... Excess acidity in the Hamraloid.HCl can be steamed off by dissolving initially evaporated product with dH2O and evaporated again. The HCL product can be purified further by dissolving it in dH2O and filtering it through rinsed DE (celite) in a buchner filter and flask, rinsing the filter cake residue and evaporating the filtrate once more.

Nice, berzerker, I recall your thread on this subject somewhere else, glad you seem to have worked it out :)
