I've never heard of this until today. Wiki says its a psychoactive tryptamine, but doesn't really mention any common psychoactive effects that your popular psychedelics would give. ron, you've tried this; what psychoactive effects does it give you?
It’s definitely mildy psychedelic. At very high doses it causes mild visual effects, ripples, waves, etc. It also causes mild spatial awareness alterations, and tingling sensations in the body.
I would not recommend it be used in that way though. The dose needed for psychedelic effects is very high. It’s not that pleasant. It's not really unpleasant either though.
It’s better in small doses combined with other herbs. It’s generally more useful as an enhancer of other herbs.

Coatl says you can smoke it and it's active that way. I never tried though.
I personally find yohimbe to be a very useful herb. It's great for extra stamina. It's good for body building, working on the house, etc.
Would you mind expanding on this? Reports on Erowid and other places seem to give mixed results, and I trust your account more anyway.
How does it compare to caffeine? Is it easy to get over-stimulated?
The dose I use is 2-3 grams. It’s pleasant at that dose for me. It’s nothing like any other stimulant there is. It makes you feel warm, slightly tingly, not so much mentally alert like caffeine does, but instead you get a lot of physical energy and greatly enhanced endurance. At the dose I use, it’s not at all over-stimulating, and actually goes very well with coffee. I’ll often brew it with 1 cup of coffee. The taste goes well with coffee. The effects sort of balance out the effects of coffee and actually makes the coffee more pleasant.
If you’re physically tired with aching muscles, caffeine doesn’t help much, but yohimbe sure does.
If you’re to do work on the house, yohimbe will allow your muscles to keep going and going. It’s amazing.
The negative reports of yohimbe are caused by people taking way too much. It’s nice in the low dose range, but not so nice at higher doses.
Yohimbe seems to affect a lot of people differently. For me it has anti-aphrodisiac effects, while others report aphrodisiac effects from it.
It’s endurance enhancing effects and it’s vasodilating effects are it’s strong points. As a mental stimulant, it’s so and so. As a psychedelic, it’s not good at all.
Keep the doses low, and use it as an endurance enhancer, and you’ll be very satisfied with it. If you need something a little stronger, instead of upping the dose, combine it with another stimulant like caffeine.
