Hi guys

The vinegar extract has been evaporating at room temp (this is a continuation from the previous post here 69ron tek help - to much water? - FAQ - All your basic questions and answers - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus )

It has now nearly evaporated and the first pull has a orange clear texture to it
due to excess d limonene when seperating the layers.

Interestingly the 2nd pull has a white colour to it and not sure
if its safe to consume as had to use oven baked bicarbonate soda to absorb the water in the cactus mix.

With the first pull how can he remove the orangy d limonene that hasnt evaporated or is it ok to consume?

Secondly could the 2nd pull have actually pulled some of the oven cooked bicarbonate baking soda to absorb the excess water
which is why the white colour and is it safe to consume also?

Here are the pics:

Foodgrade d Limo at those levels is fine to ingest a little. You can buy it in liquid gel caps as a supplement.

Was your bicarbonate food grade? If so youncan eat that too.

I've never had to add bicarbonate... Want really aware of it's use as a desiccant. I have used dried epsom salts tho

I would bet that a little bit of everything you put in the bowl prob made it into your final product. The point of the food grade tek is that small traces of your materials are safe to consume.

How much cactus did you use? Where did you get it? Hard to say from pics but it doesn't look like you got much.

Also, sometimes I can leave my evap dish out for months without needing to recover what's in it. I am always surprised by the crystals that form sometimes, when I was sure it was already dry. I, live in high humidity though so true evap can take a long time. I've had waxyness thatblooke like turn to crystaly goodness over time.

Thanks Madcap. This extract was done with
Bridgesli (It might of been a cross with a peruvian) cactus that i harvested and
de spined, and cut just the green outer flesh that
was then dried and powdered. in total there was 75g of dried cactus.

The Bicarbonate soda and dlimo was food grade.
Like you said a bit of dlimo wont hurt so the first orangy pull is ok .
Just a bit worried about the 2nd pull now

The Bicarbonate was baked in the oven as per ouro instructions
to turn it into sodium carbonate.

Ouro quoted:

(You can make some sodium carbonate by putting baking soda in the over at 400f for an hour, and add it into the mix 1 spoon at a time while mixing. This is extremely effective for breaking cactus limtek goop. The ph will rise a bit so be careful.)

then he said

(the only thing to be careful is container type, spillage, and so on because adding soda carb to lime creates lye, which is much more corrosive")

All my containers were glass and stainless steel so nothing to worry about there.

But by adding sodium carbonate which was made from food grade bicarbonate soda im not sure if its all good cos he said it creates lye when added to lime. Lye is not food grade is it?

Theres a lot of moisture where i live at the moment as well, its still not completely dry after evaporating at room temp for a few weeks.

Anyway I think it seems ok to try but i will wait to see what you think

There is actually food grade lye. I think its used in making pretzels.

I THINK that the only real danger of foodgrade lye is it's corrosive qualities.... But if you do have lye crystals there, putting them on your tongue will likely burn.

But,the vinegar you salted with would have neutralized the lye. . . So you may just have just a bunch of crud left over from your reactions.... I really don't know.

If no one else has any suggestions, and it was me.... I would probably just taste it. Bitter good. If everything that went in is food grade, I would assume everything left is food grade as well

I suppose you could dissolve it in acidic water, re-base and pull/salt again.

Sure lye can be foodgrade, where I live its sold in the supermarkets for food purposes (mostly adjusting pH for conserving olives). But dont be mislead, foodgrade doesnt mean you can eat a spoonfull of lye, since foodgrade lye is just as caustic as industrial grade lye, it will give you chemical burns just the same. Just use goggles and gloves, have some vinegar at hand to neutralize possible spills, and you'll be fine :)

Thanks for responding guys I really appreciate the help.

Ive tasted both pulls and both have a very bitter taste to it
and no burning sensation.

Madcap if you are able to can you
detail how to dissolve in acidic water, re-base and pull again

Is this right?

Adjust some water to a PH of 6 with some food grade pickling lime
and cover extract.

Mix and dissolve to clear as possible.

Decant any layer then evaporate?

thanks

Here are some pics after scraping it up
I think there might be just enough for very light dose (about 70mg)

I have also included pics of the actual cactus used.

"Madcap if you are able to can you

Sho nuff but I'm not going to go quoting ph and exactness because I don't even do that for myself :). And be aware that I don't necessarily know what I'm doing... Although I do get by/ high with a little help from my friends here on the nexus . . . .

It's a mini a/b.

Dissolve your goo in acidic water. Totally dissolved so that if you poured it thru a filter it would all pass thru.

Add some lye water.

Pull with solvent several times to collect all your goods.

Now, resalt to yield cleaner results.

The idea as I see it is that some stuff will stay behind in the water... Any lye or sodium carb or whatever you were worried about.

Sorry about your yield. Have it with some coffee (it will potentiate it)

Next time...

69ron used so much more water than is needed for good result. Put on a latex glove and mix the lime and cactus powder together until it is completely blended. Now add water slowly as you mix it with your fingers. Break up every little pebble of lime and cactus that forms.

Take your time.

Eventually the mixture becomes like "floam" well... not that solid, but it looks like floam.

If you take enough time mixing in the water, you don't need to wait for the reaction before adding limo. You will notice that the mixture gets warm as the base does it work. That heat will fade... now add limo

Stir the Dlimo in super good, use a fork to break up the clumps till it looks like green sand pebbles. You won't get it all broken up, in fact, most of it will clump back up and look like oatmeal... but keep stirring it in.

Leave it for a day, stir it every time you think about it. Coffee press it and add more and repeat 2 more times at least, maybe 4 if you know your cactus is strong.

You now have dlimo, loaded with goods.

Salt it out however you like, The fumaric method works well. Cleanest ride I've been on.
