a little confused on changa prep

Migrated topic.

everything is becoming
Hey all, so I just got some herbs in from Maya and I wanted to try my first changa batch. I was going to mix mainly caapi with some pau d'arco and pinch of salvia/peppermint/lavender as I've been following the thread in the changa section and it sounds mighty delicious. Now I keep getting confused about this ratio thing. When people are saying 1:1 they mean add exactly the same amount of grams of leaf as to grams of spice correct?

Ok so in my case, I have 0.6g of spice leftover that I want convert wholly into changa. So I will need to add 0.6g of leaf to enhance this mix correct? If this is true, I guess I'm just getting confused about erowid's effective spice does of 30mg (0.03g). I feel like if I mix 0.6g leaf with 0.6g of spice I'm going to fly all around the universe again. I was kind of hoping for a more chill experience this time.

Lastly, I'm using 91% ipa (as I have no acetone nearby). That should be fine right (Enchanted Fractal reported results with 70% ipa but I was just curious)? And I shouldn't worry about wasted spice on the sides of drying jar either right?

91% IPA should work just fine.

The answer to your other question is just simple math.

You have .6 gram or 600mg of spice. 30mg is a breakthrough dose for me. I have an average tolerance, IMO. so you have + or -, 20, 30mg doses.

Take your 600mg spice and disolve it in your warm 91% IPA. You can warm it up in a warm water bath. I imagine a 2oz shot glass full will be plenty.

Add .6 grams of your finely chopped herbal mix to that. Stir and mash it so the herbal mix absorbs the alcohol. There should be enough IPA to completely cover all of the herbal mix.

allow it to evap, slowly at room temp or in a dehydrator.

when completely dry you should have 1.2 grams or 1,200 mg. Your 30mg breakthrough dose will now be 60mg.

Enjoy

Thanks for the fast reply shaman. Ok that math breakdown makes sense to me. I think I was having a hard time just visualizing it. Everything is still drying, but I am very curious to see if it will weight 1.2g. I'm sure it will, but that will be to double-check the problem. But with that math breakdown and suggested smoking methods, that also doesn't make sense to me.

I think then the only thing that is confusing me is when people say how they smoke changa and how much. As in the suggested method: loading a small cone, and then moving on to a bigger cone. Because if you're saying that now the effective dose is 60mg of changa (+/-), that is still very small in terms of smoking. That amount would barely fill the bowl I use on my bong. So should I layer it with non-enhanced herbs as well via sandwich method to provide more burn material?

Forgive my analogy, but in my mind, by making enhanced leaf you are effectively "cutting" the spice with herbs. Making the user need to smoke more material in order to breakthrough.

Perhaps a better question: How would you suggest preparing to smoke this enhanced leaf mixture without wasting much spice?

Your correct 60mg will be a small ammount. What I do is, I load my 60mg in my spice bong and then I add some herbs of my choice on top of the changa making the small cone a larger one.

I light the herb on top of my changa and as that burns it vaporizes the changa beneath it providing a perfect delivery every time.

I use a simple 1:1 spice/10x cappi mix. I load that in my bong and cover it with more 10x.

Pure Bliss.

love it. Thanks man for the wisdom. I'll be back and tell you how the journey goes this afternoon :D

thankyou

The caapi definitly makes a little dmt go a long way. You will be suprised at how small of an amount u can breakthrough with so watch out. Take it slow at first and build up before you do your breakthrough dose. Enjoy.

1:1 all the way, always!!

When working with new blends I always make a really small batch, say like 500-600mg. Just a few doses worth, to test the waters.

Looks like someone just hit infinite being :)

I do think weaker blends have their merits, though. Only when harmalas are involved, of course. I find 1:1 can be too strong if I plan to be on my feet, hiking and such.
But for hyperspace travels, 1:1 the only thing you want.

That they do Eden:) But if one did want a weaker smoke, then they could just mix in some herb in there.

If I want a slower smoke il just throw in some herb and roll a joint of weak changa.

KwisatzHaderach, looking forward to hearing how it went:)

Valid point.
I shall be amending my practices.

I imagine this would allow for greater flexibility for blend changes on the whim as well.

wanted to update

As the day wore on yesterday, some things didn't come together as perfectly as one could hope. I decided not to venture in as my mind and heart were not in unison. I don't like to rush such things. Good vibes going into the week after the holiday; perhaps I'll blastoff then. But until then, my prepped changa is in a nice film canister in my freezer waiting for action. Also, I did weigh it and it did come out to 1.2g. It's comforting to see real data.

thankyou
